Those parents and their kids should really just get over themselves. Look, this is a place for LSU fans to get together and banter back and forth. If they can't take this side of things, then tell your kid to stop talking to people about his recruitment.

Fact is that they want only positive attention and no criticism. If they are stupid enough to believe that some of the posters and topics on here are anywhere NEAR representative of the LSU fanbase, then they truly are morons.

That said, attacking kids for their decisions is stupid, but let's get real, most of comments on here aren't that serious.

So whats stopping fans of other schools signing up at rival school websites and bashing players? Thats why this is such a stupid assumption.

This is very simple...

It is possible that negative comments on message boards can play a role in a recruits decision. Surely it won't be the only criteria, and it won't even be the main criteria, but it may play a small role. In a closely contested recruit it might make a difference. Even if you assume that the odds of this happening is extremely small, we are pursuing a lot of kids. Inevitably it will cost us a recruit.

Now you may say that all message boards are like this, but the negativity on TD reached a new extreme this year. And there are other boards where negativity is vigorously culled. Clearly comparing us with them makes us look bad.

If you are being overly negative, there is a possibility that you could be costing LSU a recruit, thereby doing LSU and its fans (including me) a disservice... so frick you!

I rarely read any negative shite about players being recruited. The negativity on this board is mainly towards the coaches.

It is funny because a lot of people on this board point out everyday that most people on the rant are retarded, clueless, stupid, dumbass, etc. Maybe the recruits must have failed to read that part. YEAH OK!

There are thousands of LSU fans out there. Each fan has their own opinion of the LSU program. Some people just happen to post it on a message board. This is not a LSU sponsored website. This is a board started by a fan. These are mostly opinions, not facts.

What do we do when recruits watch ESPN, and listen to how our coach Les Miles is the laughing stock of college football.

Instead, let's blame message boards.

Are you shitting me? You can't possibly be serious. Do the names Cameron Fordham, DJ Welter, Houston Bates and Luke Muncie ring a bell? All of these guys got a ration of shite on this board. Bates got lifetime supply.

Which isn't a good thing either! Do you want to sign with a program whose fans are calling for the coaches head?
I'm pretty sure most of us were unhappy at some point this season with a clock mgmt, play selection or playing time decision; but the RECRUITING BOARD isn't the place to discuss it!

They read these sites to get a sense of the LSU community and where their son might spend his college years. They go on to note that message boards do play a part into the recruit's decision and that the infighting and bashing was a major turn off.

So, you're telling me recruits, and their parents, notice LSU's fans have the most active message board of any major university in the world?

They'll notice the good, and the bad, from an LSU's fans message board, moreso than they would elsewhere about other schools?

Let 'em see us at our best, and our worst. We aren't hiding things here. LSU will stand up to scrutiny just fine.

Chicken - this reminded me, I don't say it often enough, great job.

Every single fan base that has an active board has bickering that goes on.

Recruiting is recruiting and people that follow it will voice their opinions. End of story.

Why are people scared about mentioning which recruit?

Because the story came from a premium site and Mike Linebacker was trying to stick to the TD rules.

FWIW, I think it was the recruit's mother who made the message board comment and was quoted in the article, not the recruit.

I didn't read any article. But I did see the thread he referenced.

Much worse premium info has been taken off boards that this.

Wow extremetigerfanatic, your a real dick. Mike came on here to share information that we can't get from a paid website. He doesn't want to get in trouble and be kicked off that website so he doesn't share the name (which the name doesn't even matter in this case). How about appreciating the info that he passed along. YOu need to STFU, and instead of snapping back with rediculous comebacks realize that sometimes it does affect recruits and their families. Mike thank you for sharing with us, most of us appreciate it.

They really shouldn't worry what the 1% lunatic fringe on a message board thinks or says. There are fans like that in every program.

The only ones that we were ripping on were Bates, Blackmon and Fordham. Unless Jordan Meisner got offended.

yea, turned me off so bad i pretty much dropped the rant. the adm., i think finally stepped in and started whacking some of the posts. it was the same people whining louder and louder and louder. i really enjoy an outlet to keep up with LSU sports but i don't have to have the rant to do that. i think the negativity turned a lot of people away from the rant.

Interesting responses.

Again, I didn't post this b/c I agree that parents should take this board to heart. And my guess is that the actions of some fans will have a low impact. But putting aside whether they SHOULD read this stuff and take it to heart--they sometimes DO. And so my thought is that this FACT should be known so that people can think before they post.

I won't stop being critical (on the Rant) but I will try not engage in hyperbole and insults. And I will be mindful when others are going to far with their "rants." That's just me. Others will take this fact and give it no credence. That's their prerogative. I may disagree and hope they reconsider but it is what it is.

I need some names. I will have my assistant, Dhillip, review their post histories for quality control purposes.
