JLEE Note:

With the commitment today from B.C. Rain defensive lineman/linebacker Devaunte Sigler, besides Carver (Columbus, Ga.) defensive tackle Gabe Wright, Auburn is done along the defensive front. Five-star defensive end Ray Drew will announce his decision Friday, but Auburn has taken itself out of the running. The Tigers will not be visiting in-home with Drew this week. Auburn is done on the defensive side of the ball sans four-star safety Erique Florence and four-star cornerback Marcus Roberson

Sigler was everybody's backup plan. But yeah, I'm sure they "took themselves out of the running" with Drew.

What is there to announce Friday? Wasn't he down to just UGA & Auburn?

If Auburn is out, then the announcement to UGA is already made by simple deduction.

You guys take Lee WAY too seriously. Very few Auburn fans do. We all know he pumps things up to generate traffic.

Actually, we are doing the opposite of taking him seriously.

Well, the kind of did. Drew said his mind was made up and told the Auburn coaches there's no point in coming, so they more or less took themselves out of contention.

If you want to take that as "they pulled his offer," go ahead, but that's not what he's saying. Our coaches wanted Drew and didn't get him, and by not visiting him have taken themselves out of the running for him.

Yes, you take a project like Sigler and pass on Ray Drew.

Sigler is a talent, and may turn out to be a great DE, but that is an absurd statement.

Must have been the cheaper of the two.

What the coaches did is one thing. What Jeff Lee says is another. He's a huge tool and is full of shite most of the time.

Supposedly Lee has contacts within the coaching staff, so I always assume he might have a golden nugget of information here or there, but you are correct, dude is about as much of a homer as it gets.

Guess they stopped payment on all the checks they were sending.

How is what they did vs what he is saying different in this case?

Are you really reading it as he's saying we preferred Sigler over Drew? That's not at all what it's saying, imo. He's saying now that Sigler has commited and he thinks we'll get Wright, our D line is done. And now that that has happened, the coaches are pulling out of the Drew sweepstakes, not because they got who was first on their list though.

Here's your analogy:

A guy at work gets word that he's about to be fired, so he rushes to his desk, types up a letter of resignation, sends it to human resources and then tells everyone he quit.

Of course you gotta respect that move

Hopefully, we didn't send Drew a hat to put on the table.

Dollars to donuts he pulls the old routine of putting on an Auburn hat and then the ol' "nah that don't feel right", and then pulls a hidden UGA hat out from underneath the table. The crowd goes wild, overweight black women need to be propped up so they don't swoon, blah, blah, blah...
