Murray was never noticeably better than Mettenebrger. Mettenberger has more talent and fit UGA's offense better. The problem was Mettenberger had his arrest holding him back, especially through the spring.

he wasn't as accurate as Murray and didn't have the leadership skills Murray has. He also wasn't as mobile if that matters.

That is completely false. Mettenberger showed him up big time in the spring game.

And Ford showed up huge at our spring game but Ridley, Blue, and Murphy have all gotten more time and carries. Sometimes its hard to tell who is ahead of who.

Most UGA guys say Mettenberger is a solid player and looked good. Still, they always perceived Murray to be the leader.

All of Murray's passes are within 5 yards of the LOS. He's just another Plant H/S system QB like Robert Marve. Just not that impressive at all. Mettenberger had all the talent in the world, just got into trouble at the wrong time. He has every bit of potential as Matt Stafford.

UGA v.s. Miss. st. Murray threw a 40 yard bomb in the 4th quarter to the end zone for a td.

His YPA is 8.7. Stafford's was only 6.8. his freshman year.

He has got to be good enough that LSU will not have to rely on a RS Frosh, Rivers in 2012.

Mettenberger had WON the starting job in the spring. There was no doubt.

He got drunk and grabbed the wrong girl, her dad was a big wheel at UGA, maybe on their BOS.

Kid never had a problem with behavior or discipline before. Good grades.

Met is currently playing great for the #1 JUCO team. Stats are excellent altho he sits for the last qtr, or even half, as they blow everyone out. Has something like 19 TDs and 3 INTs.

He can arrive in Jan and will have 3 yrs to play 3.

yes there was. He had a good spring game other than that he was what you would expect out of a true freshman. Murray was better except in the spring game.

really? because mettenberger's Mom works for UGA.

i think we have the savior on the team already in Lee. We would be 4and 2 without Lee.

Dude, you really trying to back up your current QB on a recruiting board?

Truth is, we will never know who would have been the starter at UGA. But we know this, Richt had a very hard decision to make kicking the kid off. His stats this year don't lie; he's a great qb with a lot of physical tools. UGA would have been lucky to retain him and you can't argue with that.

If it makes you feel better you can claim that he wasn't as good as Murray all day long. Hell, many on the rant tried to say that about Perrilloux, but everyone knew it wasn't true. Things like that happen in recruiting, but don't downplay the kids athletic ability.

And how in the shite do you know that? Were you at the spring practices? Maybe you're just going off rivals rankings.

Where did you get this information? Wwaayyy behind him in development? You are the first I have seen post this.

I think he was referring to overall recruiting status; i.e. rankings.

hardly....most people want him because he will fill the gap left by ZLee and will be a bridge to Rivers. he is a prototype (6'5"-240) pocket passer and I think most fans are very comfortable with this at LSU.

there are no saviors.

He gets A TON of help from YAC. Let's not kid ourselves here, Matt Stafford he is far from.

Every plant H/S QB is basically the same. A short weak armed kid who gets highly ranked in their system (great system). I just never saw Murray fitting in with UGA's offense unless they really switch up their offense to fit his needs which they havent yet. He's a guy who has to rely on his receivers to turn short throws into bigger gains...where as UGA has always been a PA deeper pass type of team to their bigger WRs/TEs.

I was not. However, other UGA fans were and so were the papers. Both agreed Murray was the better choice.
