how good is mettenberger?

what is the big deal on mettenberger. I looked him up and when he was recruited by georgia he was wwaayyy behind murray. He was ranked like 16th in the country at pro style qb. As for comparisson chris garret was ranked about the same. Of course lee was about 7 as was JJ. Matt flynn was about 13 or 14
and before anyone says anything, i know stars don't matter and bradford/colt/gmac were all 3 stars. But everyone is talking like he is the savior. We are the only big time school recruiting him too.
he was the last 4 star in the jucco class. So how good is he to garner such high praises

Cause last time I checked JL and JJ would be seniors next year and Rivers would not be ready to step in yet.

This. He isn't a "savior" because he in unbelievably be good, but we won't have to play a freshman again.

He's not exactly a savior in my eyes. I think he's just a transitional QB. Hopefully we are able to get a big time Qab next year. Bring him in fir a year, redshirt then takes over for Met when he leaves.
Was is Mett completing like 56-58 percent of his passes ? In JuCO not exactly inspiring.
Does have great physical tools though. Hopefully he works on his accuracy. But from pretty much every highlight I've seen he tends to throw the ball to high. Air mails way too many passes.
But throws a great deep ball.

He's very good. Saw him first hand at UGA's spring game...was waaayyyy ahead of Aaron Murray.

ok, that is awesome. That says alot. Murray was the 2 Rated QB in his class.

This was my understanding as well.
Mett has a ton of physical tools (size, big arm).
I think he's only the "savior" in terms of the fact that he kills a massive depth chart gap that would happen if he doesn't come here. Not in terms of his ability.

my bad I misunderstood you. I thought you meant he was ahead of him on the depth chart. Yeah he had a better spring game, but a spring game doesn't mean much sometimes. This was one of those times.

That is completely false. Mettenberger showed him up big time in the spring game. Murray had problems moving the ball. Mettenberger hit some big plays., Murray looked very unimpressive. It was clear Mettenberger was better.

But again that doesn't mean Mett was ahead of him on the depth chart. They were both competing but having a better spring game doesn't make up for the other times when Murray was alot better.

Murray was never noticeably better than Mettenebrger. Mettenberger has more talent and fit UGA's offense better. The problem was Mettenberger had his arrest holding him back, especially through the spring.
