Let's hope our recruits are smarter than that.

Last time I checked, Stanford isn't even the top passing offense in it's own conference.

Pac-10 Football Stats

And Alabama is behind LSU in Pass Defense in this conference:

SEC Stats

The last decent QB we had here, Matt Flynn, had comparable numbers to Andrew Luck:

PASSING AVG/GAME Team Cl G Att Cmp Int Pct. Yds TD Avg/G
Luck, A........ STAN SO 12 349 245 7 70.2 3051 28 254.2

PASSING GP Effic Cmp-Att-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G
Matt Flynn 12 125.76 202-359-11 56.3 2407 21 71 200.6

And no one is saying Flynn is as good as Luck is.

Point is, Flynn won a BCS title here, and is still playing football in the NFL.

LSU is not a bad place at all to come play football.

Stanford is in a BCS bowl and is by far the best school in the top 25 academically.

Yes and yes. I'm not saying anything bad about Stanford, or even Harbaugh. I'm just not knocking LSU.

I think LSU would at least give Stanford a good game right now, if not outright beat them And that despite our obvious QB troubles.

If a big time football recruit is looking for a place to show off his skills and go pro, LSU is not bad place to play football.

That's all I'm saying.

Have you not watched LSU in the last couple of years? If anything, it's been a place where five star recruits go to become undrafted free agents. Other than defensive back, I can't think of a single area of the team that a recruit might look at and think they'll get the coaching to get them to the next level, and it's still early to make a definitive judgement on that even.

Anyone who's lived away from Louisiana for any length of time learns to appreciate our state so much better.

Simply put, we have the best food, music, and people around. Our culture is unique, our state is beautiful, and we have every reason to be proud of our heritage.

You might need to get out of Louisiana for more than a week. I love it here, but arguments about food, music and women are way overrated.

LSU is not a fit for every kid. As an LSU fan this does not hurt my feelings.

How many parents of these really good recruits can afford to take their son to the LSU games when they were young? My guess is most didn't attend games but grew up watching them on the tube along with a bunch of other teams.

True, but the following: I have moved to several NFL cities, where I watched those teams play on television. Although I never have lost my true affection for the Saints, I developed a geographical pride in these various teams (where I lived).
It would seem that lifelong Louisiana residents would develop that kind of pride in LSU---no matter what.

Louisiana it not a shite hole dick head. I've been in Houston for 5 years and if it wasn't for work my arse would be right back in Cajun country.

Not that long ago there were only a handful of games on TV, so I'm thinking it was much harder for a local kid to develope much of an affection for any programs outside their immediate area.

I do think most LA recruits grow up LSU fans, but also dream of playing at other places as well.

Alot of times dont give a shite about playing for the school they have been a fan of, and just want the best option for them. (playing time, chance to help get them to pros, etc.)

I know with JaMarcus Russell, he was a HUGE Tenn fan his whole life as the rest of his family was. He had no love for LSU but the early recruitment by Saban. (He starting recruiting JR in the 9th grade) and the ability of Saban to help him get to the next level, adding the close distance to Mobile from Baton Rouge so Mom and Gramdma could watch him play) overrode his love for Tenn and FSU.

So he signed with LSU.

You have to remember they are looking at it as a career thing and not just playing football for a team they are a fan of.

Louisiana is a shithole, comparatively speaking. Some recruits know this. Others haven't been exposed to much else and don't have a reference point.

I agree.

Beaches of Florida or hoods of Baton Rouge? mmmmmmmmmm
