The problem is dead weight on the recruiting staff from guys like Ensminger and Stud who also bring very little to the staff in terms of coaching.

simply pitiful

Agreed. And, I find it hard to believe that our coaches didn't know how close this would come down to, and didn't pay attention to the kid.

He's one of the top safeties in the nation. I'm sure they didn't put much effort into recruiting. Some of you guys are just talking out your arse.

I'm sure LSU recruited him extremely hard. Alabama just recruited him harder. The kid is going to go where he wants to go.

was there someone close to him that was in constant communication with bama?
Bama dudes are all over his twitter. Anytime he would post on social media that he got a call or maybe a letter from xxx school, they probably reported back to Bama and the staff would call him.

eta: PS they also would troll this board as LSU fans and post degrading comments and copy/paste them to his twitter saying look at LSU fans talking shite.

how does that happen? did hootie let bama know each time he spoke with another school? was there someone close to him that was in constant communication with bama?

becuse of social media.

Bama's presence on things like Twitter is 100X better then LSU's. we have a lot of ground to make up when it comes to social media.

Stud got the guy that will be playing LT next year. You know, the one that snapped the ball to AJ10 as a true freshman on a 99 yard drive?

He can recruit, just not sure how he got beat so badly in NLa this year

Oh well, this was a perfect storm for the red team. Offer a scholly to the WR to get the OL, and have both recruit the Safety. I'm sure LSU recruited him hard.

Or heck, the rest of the staff like Frank Wilson, you mean he "knows" we havent been handling business and he's ok with that? I know its not his area but I would think he would be pissed off as would Miles.

2 thoughts...first, and this is nothing but speculation on my part, Stud was left in North La this year because of the perceived relationship he had with CRob. Staff may have felt making a change would cost them whatever shot they thought they had. Second, the staff got a read on Hootie early on and believed resources were better spent elsewhere. They also may be seeing that Bama is right on the edge of violations there and don't want to play the game.

Not arguing that at all. But outside of Diarse, how many of those were LSU-Bama battles?

I know we have success up there. But thats where a large part of our misses are from, thats my only point.

Too much smoke for no fire. Devall, Davis, Cam, Hootie, just in recent years off the top of my head. I think this may have been the last straw and it will start being corrected, but LSU certainly hasn't treated Nla with the same intensity that they have this area, and the results speak for themselves.

In the last 6 years, if we assume these guys stick to Bama, LSU has has lost 6 top 10 LA recruits from North Louisiana. That is a major issue. In that same time, they've only lost 2 from South LA (Jackson and Collins).

He's not a good recruiter. Never has been. He has been demoted twice and still remains on our staff. Demoted in both recruiting and OC. If you're demoted then you're obviously being lazy and not doing your job. If he's still making OC money it's even more perplexing how he's still on our staff. One of the reasons for ticket price increases is staff salaries. I'm not paying for his fatass to sit in the office and lazily recruit and consistently deliver highly touted olines that end up underachieving.

Do you see anyone knocking his door down to join another program? Probably a good indication right there he's not a very good coach to go with the rumors from the players.

And here's what he gets...

The real little Nicky

Throw me in the camp that personally doesn't believe any of the late indecision. Nor do I believe any of the other explanations of LSU not working hard enough, the wrong recruiter, his mom being treated poorly, etc.

The real story is this. For whatever reason, Cam Sims did not want to make an effort to get a LSU offer...maybe he was bought. Crob followed....maybe he was bought or handled too, and the Laurence Jones followed.

When it boils down to it all of these guys put more into style than substance. They bought all the snake oil that little Nicky sells. They did not, for lack of a better term, have the "chest" to go out and make something themselves but instead choose to jump on the bandwagon of what was they were convinced was the hottest thing going.

Doubt the gumps will get their just deserts, but still hope that he NCAA will actually do right by the Luther Davis and HCD situation and give them appropriate sanctions.

you have guys that can build relationships with key targets at their position, but aren't that good at building relationships across their recruiting territory.

Probably just self confidence, thought he did enough on the field and didnt believe he should have to prove himself.

So let me get this straight..
LSU left "new gump's mom alone on a recruiting visit for an extended period of time
Bama calls back within the hour of any communication sent to them...hmmmm
Sorry...not buying it...
However, Brick taking over recuiting in the area will sure up any perceived issues

don't buy what hootie said. they couldn't call that much it would have been a violation. I don't believe it was a toss up last night after miles left. so, he went to the school that recruiting him the hardest with no mention of playing time, scheme or coaching. not buting any of it. that said ,its his choice, bye.
