Has everyone come to terms that this recruiting class might be underwhelming?

If not, why?

It’s a coaching change folks. This happens. I see a lot of consternation and I get the bummed feeling of seeing a long time commit bail or guys you’ve been tracking for 2 years go elsewhere, but man it’s part of the deal.

I was worried about keeping 2 guys when we fired Ed, Howard and Campbell and it seems we’ve kept them.

And sure it sucks to see A&M have a monster class, and Alabama like usual but this is a bigger process than just 1 class.

Not me. I always feel like we should bring in talent at a LSU

It's pretty much the norm to see a dip in recruiting ranking with a new coaching staff. Happens everywhere.

That being said, this class hits some key needs, which is critical.

It might be small but not underwhelming. Arguably have the best qb OT and guard in the country.

Interesting note: of the schools with HC changes, only ND and OU have better classes.

Technically, VT is ranked higher, but that due to quantity, not quality.

Yep

And look, I hope I’m wrong and all these 50/50 names pick us, I just don’t expect it

We don't have any coordinators. I can't imagine getting mad at a kid not wanting to commit to someone he doesn't know

Yes... our program has been a $hit $how for nearly 18 months (until we announced the hiring of BK). All of the schools we compete with for recruits have been negatively recruiting against us since summer 2020.

And, we went 11-11 since winning the Natty.

That's why we only have what, 11 commits. No one knew who the new coach was going to be until just a few weeks ago.

So Coach Kelly and Frank Wilson have really been behind the 8-ball since coming on board.

We have needs at every position... limited options... and a coach that's been here 2 weeks (ish).

Remember, Nick Saban did not bring any of his staff from Michigan State with him. His first recruiting class was underwhelming (Number 24?). He had a lot of misses including some to Tulane and USL.

Like Michigan State, Notre Dame is trying to keep the band together hoping it will bring continuity.

Let us check back in a couple of years and see if this coaching change mirrors Nick Saban's to LSU.

It happens when there's a coaching change. One of O's early classes was underwhelming. I think Saban's and Miles's first classes were their weakest as well.

I won't be remotely alarmed until '23.

And neither of those had a coach fired. That's a different situation.

Go look at what's left of Coach O's classes.

2017 - Most of this class (7 studs) left after the 2019 NCG
2018 - I've got at least 10 transfers + a few more that left after 3
2019 - 8 have transferred out and several others haven't contributed much
2020 - At least 6 have transferred out and MANY have yet to really contribute.

Seems like half the kids we've signed since 2018 or at least 10 players per class have transferred out of the program.

We brought BK into a tough spot, but I’m optimistic it will be decent. I never thought it would be top 10.

Some just didn't know what to expect because they've not been through or they don't remember the last coaching change where the new HC cleaned house.
