Still committed to LSU... just wants to take his trips and what not. You can do that ya know...

Re-opening your recruitment =/= deciding to use all 5 official visits.

Correct. You would hope a local kid would want to help recruit for the school he is committed to, not be a distraction and force the coaches to keep spending time recruiting them and all the others.

Completely agree, but let's try to empathize. None of us are 17yos with a dozen multi-millionaires kissing our asses and offering us all expense paid trips that likely involve all kinds of shenanigans that a teenaged boy might find appealing.

But yeah, watching the sausage-making unfold can be painful and grating.

Yup. This is actually really smart on his part. He wants to help LSU's class ranking as much as he can, a true Tiger!

The Advocate claims a "wild series of events" lead him to open recruitment. Then article seems to say that him opening recruitment was the wild turn of events.

Recruiting is crazy enough without sensationalized headlines.

Best RB in country has zero invites to all american games, go figure. He deserves recognition and he wants it, don't blame him. Kid is LSU all day.

Has guice not gotten all the offers he wants?

I'll tell you this, having known a lot of guys that went through CHS and we're recruiting, I have a little insight into how Coach Weiner handles recruiting.

He controls it. Any media circus or hoopla will not happen at catholic high. I can gurantee you that, so if guice thinks he's gonna get that type of pub there, then he must be crazy.

I can remember half of our team getting recruiting, practicing in front of jimbo fisher and there not even being much said by our prospect about it. It just doesn't happen in that program. Guys like saban, miles, and weis stopped by but it was so controlled and professional. Weiner does a good job of controlling the atmosphere that comes with big team d1 recruting.

But I have also heard from some guys that they didn't feel like they got all the promotion they deserved. According tk them, the coaches kinda had an idea of a the guys talent level/grads, and then they sent out tapes to where they thought the kids would succeed. That was one gripe I heard but other than that Weiner does a fabulous job. He's a great molder of young men.

Btw I'm still surprised guice is in SCHOOOL. His Twitter definitely isn't a catholic high

That might have a little to do with the coaching staff.

From all accounts, or from what I've seen, guice might be one of the most talented catholic high backs ever, but he's nowhere as humble as warrick Dunn, Kevin Franklin, Travis minor, Jeremy stewart, etc.

His Twitter account should let you know just that. What ever happened to the 24/7/365 catholic high student rule? He should have been kicked out of catholic for half of crap he has on his Twitter account (by their standards).

I get a feeling that he's a new age kid (self absorbed) that wants things / recruiting done his way, with a media circus around him, and it just won't happen at catholic.

I've seen too many future pros, football and baseball, come through that school, and the one thing they all shared was humility.

And if coach is still like he was back in the gap, then in season visits will be marginalized and reduced. We didn't have our guys making a lot of in season visits. We were focused on winning a state championship

that is a gripe at every school ever by every guy that wasn't talented enough to play college ball

I hear that so much it is ridiculous from kids I coached in middle school complaining about their high school coaches. And of course from their parents.

No this came from guys that were all-state and ended up playing professional football

This isn't a new phenomenon. Too many guys felt like they had to go out on their own to promote themselves.

Might have just been a case of being greedy by the players but it's not just the faux d1 players. I was talking about legitimate d1 prospects

Having watched prep games with d1 college coaches whose names all of you would recognize, no promotion is necessary. In fact once we were going to a game at gormley in no and a hs coach was trying to give the number of the players they needed to look at - one very notable head coach responded with "son if there is a player on the field tonight I will find him and quickly, if I cant find him he is not a player for my level or program"

He spotted the 3 players in warmups....

For the comment smart move this will get him his 5th star....wow so nothing on the field....wow keep believing what the recruiting services say...

The one thing I don't get is why even tweet that you are going to take visits, that's between him, LSU and the other schools.

Just a question did another local back tweet about his visit to ND last week?

And this stuff is nothing new. Old guys remember tyronne Vaughn?
