frick arik gilbert. We need dogs not pussies that quit. Find a TE in Lousiana that wants to be at LSU. When LSU sees him in the future they need to make his aaa quit again.

Seems like a dumb choice. Washington is in the same class and will be an alternating option on an already less utilized position.
if he goes to UGA it's definitely homesickness. While it may be dumb for us, it's more than likely great for his well being. Even if he doesn't get the opportunity to do much at UGA like that previous 5 star TE they got like 4 years ago, he is definitely talented enough to do well in the NFL.

Dude would have been an absolute stud for us going forward. I saw at least a 1000 yard season and multiple 10+ TD seasons, in his future at LSU, but it is what it is.

I would reconsider if I was him. To abandon a team you committed to a year ago won't sit well with nfl teams on personality and competitiveness. He will get asked about it constantly at the combine

He was in the hospital for synthetic weed. Coach O said that to try and help Arik out

yup. his “opt out” was a suspension and we did everything to help him and cover it up. but he still just left. whoever has the most lenient drug policy will get him.

Really?? Wow, WTF? Isn't that the same thing someone said about Stingray? Kids should know better than that.

Saw on DandyDon that he has deleted the tweet that he is entering the portal and he hasn’t actually entered it yet.

DandyDon

Also, his mother has actually been down in BR talking to him and trying to work out his problems so he might stay with LSU. The coaches and University have been giving him and his mother all the resources they have for this purpose and his well being.

How old is that news. I remember that being a thing when he first opted out. Not sure if it’s still accurate regarding his mother being here.

Obviously we can’t see the official NCAA transfer portal, but I don’t see him listed on the one on 247. If he is having second thoughts, the way people are talking about him isn’t going to help. In that same post, it sounded like Don knew some info we don’t and he seems to think there’s a little more to it than being a quitter. This is one of those times I wish people would just keep to themselves until that had all of the details.

He appeared hesitant to me borderline soft.
The kid carried out and was at least average executing his blocking assignments. I can remember 2 drops not looking it in.

Bottom line we got him the ball a t before he quit. He Cant say he wasn't a priority in offense.

Got him the ball a lot?? 4-5 receptions a game isn't a lot to me - especially for someone that averages 10.5yds a catch.

8 games / 35 receptions / 368 total yards / 4.4 rec

He was still a freshmen. Without a real offseason to mesh with the QBs. And he had 3 QBs. And he's a tight end. He was the 2nd leading receiver for LSU before Marshall (a first round pick and experienced Junior) opted out. And he may have been the leading receiver by the end of the year if he had stayed - some of Boutte's 300+ yards probably would have gone to him against Ole Miss.

Despite what he looks like 18 year old Gilbert is not yet 21 year old Kyle Pitts. I honestly doubt that the production (or supposed lack thereof) had anything to do with Gilbert's opt out and potential transfer.

Do you have binoculars or something? How can you even see the thread from way up there?
Lighten up on the 18 year old kid, tough guy.

I just read some of the other posts. You're not the only bully on here. If you're going to rip then rip stats/numbers/performance. Pretty much fair game. But when you start in subjective territory that is only your opinion that "he appears soft" which can't be backed up by numbers or video---that's horseshite.

He actually moved back home. Hes not in BR anymore. And unless something changes isn't enrolled in school this semester.

If the kid truly has mental issues. We don’t need something horrible to happen. Depression can be a bitch..
