For those worried about DL decommits

As of 11/25/19 we still have a full DL squad and edge rushers to add quality depth even before the hopeful commitments of Webb and Burch.
Jaquelin Roy 6-3.5/289
Demon Clowney 6-4/225
BJ Ojulari 6-3/224
Jacobian Guillory 6-2/331
Eric Taylor 6-4/280
Ali Gaye 6-6/270
LINK
Even without Webb and Burch this is a great DL haul, but with them it will be elite.
Alec Bryant is a great athlete but is more of a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB. The staff is making sure that the players with the most talent AND best fit Aranda's scheme end up tigers.
Hope this calms some nerves for those who haven't been following recruiting as closely and

It won’t, there will be about 3-5 threads started on it today and every day moving forward brother.

You can’t calm the nerves of some here.
They made threads every week that the next game was a trap game, and they had a bad feeling.

I don’t understand how some of these knot heads think we are losing anyone.
We aren’t losing d-line. We are upgrading.

Unfortunately, you just can’t fix stupid. No matter how many times you try to explain yourself.

No thanks I’d rather focus on the 2 decommits and not the 6 elite guys who are still committed so I can have something to bitch about

BJ is projected to be an edge rusher right? So him, Webb and Burch. Along with Anthony, Thornton, Brooks next year (if Chaisson leaves)
DL next year:
Farrell
Logan
Shelvin
Ika
Farrell
Evans
Roy
Guillory
Gaye
Clowney
Jenkins - hasn’t played a snap at all
Cherry (wanted to enter transfer portal to start the season- hasn’t seen a down all year)
I would still take Lee and Taylor over Gaye. I’d rather 4 years than 2. That’s my own opinion.
We just need more bodies I feel that we haven’t started a freshman DT in a long time. Bama, Georgia, Clemson rotate their line every 4 downs. We have never had that kind of depth since O has been coach and we need it to generate effective pash rush.

These are rush OLB, but I get including them in old school DL

Wish I was as smart as you are

Roy is the type of DE we need to be recruiting if we can get him and Burch look the frick out.
We also should be recruiting a NT every year given their size they’re prime to leave early. Excited about Guillory.

I've heard this rumor numerous times on this site. However, I never heard or read it anywhere else. I've even searched google trying to see if this rumor is real and nothing. I don't know where this rumor is coming from, but as far as I can tell, it's completely bogus. A lot of times on the Rant, what are rumors somehow matriculate into truth.
Anyway, can you enlighten me?
Meanwhile, all I've heard is the coaching staff is excited about the prospects of Cherry, McClendon, and Fonua for next season.

In all seriousness, wtf happened to Clowney? Is this dude still going to sign with LSU?
Posted on 11/25/19 at 2:34 pm to Magician2
Does Chaisson want to go flip burgers? Why the frick would that dude leave early? Nobody is going to draft a dude who rushes straight ahead 10 yards behind a QB on every pass rush situation and breaks containment on runs. He's LSU worst player when he's at the line playing down. He needs to sit tight and actually develop some kind of technique on his pass rush. He has 0 inside moves and T just watch that guy blow right past them happily because it's always 10 yards behind them where the QB steps up into a beautiful pocket.

Farrell listed twice. Any chance we get Thomas back?

By quite literally every draft site he's listed as a 1st-2nd round right now.
He is an amazing player against the run and dropping into coverage but yeah, he has not produced rushing the passer this year.

Are we "processing" these recent decommits to "make room" for other/better players or players at positions where we have more pressing needs?
With our rise to #1 and a lot of national attention... it has really shown the light on LSU and we had a nearly "fully committed" class --- now we are a few spots open.
Coincidence or just part of what we have to do?

Dont recall this at all. By all accounts, he has a promising future with us

That's absolutely bizarre if his stock is that high. He has done absolutely nothing in pass rush this year and he has not been that good against the run. If he's rated that high then where are players like Logan and Farrell because they've been way better on that line? Chaisson is a big reason why Ole Miss gashed the living hell out of LSU. There's no way he's a 1st-2nd. That has to be preseason hype based on his potential. I'd have to think if projections like that are recent they're expecting him to look good in the combine and that they can take his raw technique to turn him into another Danielle Hunter from LSU if he's a combine warrior.

Cherry had about 30 snaps in first four games. Haven't seen his name mentioned as playing since.
Don't be surprised if Shelvin and Logan leave early, especially Shelvin.
LSU rotates six Dlinemen every game now that everyone is healthy, Lawrence, Shelvin, Logan, Fehoko. Apu and Farrell. Depending on length of opponents first drive. It might start second drive of the game.
EdO said months ago he wanted a Juco Dlineman in this class to replace the soph that transferred out. Heard the coaching staff just reevaluated Gaye and he is a take. Guess they feel he can step in a contribute rather quickly.

We will lose a LOT of guys if we win the national championship. It’s just the nature of it all.
