With us getting Copeland...I think we'll be ok at DT for now. We'll slide Brockers in the middle too, which I hear the coaches are high on. I have no idea how a 6'6+ DT is going to do though. To me, that seems more like a 3-4 guy. I hope he can maintain leverage at that height...

A successful 6'6 DT in a 3-4 is a rarity due to the factor you listed: Gaining and maintaining leverage.

Line them up in a 3-4 for a little change of pace/breather for starters. Ego would be perfect here!!

3-4 DE is different from a 4-3 DE. 3-4 DEs are expected to gap control and hold the line for the LBs.

If you want Ego to be aggressive, the a 4-3 is what you want to run.

While Ego did go to Hargrave,he didn't go to improve grades or to play for the post graduate team.He was a traditional high school sr. that played for the prep level team at Hargrave. The competition is not the best. The main reason for going to Hargrave is grades(not Ego)and coaching/discipline.Ego is just like the other high school kids coming in he just went to Hargrave for better comp than his high school in MD and for coaching.

There has been talk of either or both of Levingston and Brockers moving inside, leaving only 3 veteran DEs - Montgomery, Aghayere and Mingo (and I'm assuming Mingo doesn't go back to OLB), with Aghayere presumably starting, at least in Spring ball.

ETA: Checked the official roster after I posted this - I forgot Chase Clement and Bennie Logan as veteran (Logan, albeit a RS year), scholarship DEs. All of the guys listed above are still listed as "DE" on the official roster.

What about Lavar Edwards?
I thought he would end up being a pretty good DE. He, Ego, Montgomery, and Agherye could be a pretty good DE combo. Downs, Davenport, Brockers, and Nevis could impress as well.

not clear is actually enrolled?

spring looks like this

Montgomery
Clement/Adams
Mingo

Edwards
Aghayare
Logan/Adams

DT
Nevis
Downs
Levingston
Brockers
Davenport
Logan (if Adams enrolled)

Plenty of Dline talent to play with.

Then u add...Allen, Copeland, Ferguson.
Thats 15 guys to play with going into August

Also, a guy who's in the know is dead set that Jacobs can get a look on defense as well..I know Lee Breechen is huge on him and thinks he is a better Defensive guy and his coaches think he may have a chance there as well..We shall see

I thought Jacobs could end up as an o-lineman. He's real tall and is huge already. Might even be too big to be a DT or DE.
