but a more important fact is that it is a strong sign that Ed O will be here for a long time. You don't want an important recruiter - much less your recruiting coordinator - leaving in the next couple of years.

I don't think this keeps ED O here. If he is offered the right Gig he is gone IMO.

As far as an upgrade, who can say. At best right now, at the very best, its a lateral hire. Wilson was very good in this role for a long time.

Having said that, time will tell for Coach O's results. I wouldn't be shocked if the hire ends up being an upgrade but only time will tell.

but they have tons of personnel to support him. Again, I'm not saying he can't do it. Just that I would like a larger analyst staff to support him OR that we hire someone to solely handle recruiting coordination.

How do you know that this is not being developed? We could have seen a glimpse of it with that kid (can't remember his name).

Orgeron is the perfect guy to take Wilson's place on this.

I don't think there is such a thing as an upgrade from Frank Wilson. He was the best in the business. I think we've got the best recruiting coordinator in the country in Ed O and he is probably equal to Frank and the only possible guy who is his equal for our school.

I just want a larger off field personnel staff at LSU similar to Bama.

You're being defensive.
You're being ignorant. That larger off field personnel staff would be meaningless if not for Saban. So your entire point is moot.

Upgrade? No

An equal to Frank? There's a good chance, but that will be determined soon...

I hope it is. It's been a long time coming and it's needed. If the NCAA won't restrict you, you might as well hire an army of support staff.

What kid are you referring to?

That larger personnel staff is what gets their name to every recruit in the nation and analyzes film for Saban. Now, would it be helpful for Miles? Who knows and maybe he wouldn't even use it.

Fact is, it would be beneficial to any program. Are you trying to argue that all the personnel Bama has is useless to any other coach in the country?

Austin THomas.

Austin was the go to guy for Wilson. He managed the entire board and future recruits. He was the man.

USC hired him to take over their board and set things up like an NFL GM would.

I wish he stayed and LSU built a support staff for him like they are at USC.

Upgrade - NO but, LSU is very fortunate to have Coach Orgeron on staff. He is a great recruiter and position coach as was Coach Wilson. Thankfully, Coach O has been a recruiting coordinator before so he knows the duties. He just needs to get himself an "Austin Thomas" - and he will knock it out of the park. So upgrade - NO but, could be just as good in that position- HELL YES. Congratulations Coach Orgeron and LSU, Coach Miles for making the right decision to put Coach O in charge of recruiting.@

Wasn't he the recruiting coordinator at USC for a couple of seasons? It's not like he has never done it before.

Jr won't leave LSU for just as head coaching job. He's all ready turned down position at a smaller school.

that's not my point. I never said he wasn't capable. I just want a larger off field personnel staff at LSU similar to Bama.

Hard to argue for an upgrade when we had him on staff already with a great recruiting coordinator already in place. That said, I think the overall staff is better this year than last year.

Our level of recruiting is so high that it would be hard to describe Orgeron as an upgrade.

He will definitely maintain our strong recruiting. I'm glad he's here.
