This thread must be a pre-melt meltdown? I think a little more faith is due to our coaches at this point. Revisit the end of next week. I think we played more 4-3 Nickel fronts anyway with a safety in the box like a LB.

Hi to them.

They weren't included because they'll be seniors in 2017 season. Not fitting the topic of young LBs.

It's like Gay has just all of a sudden shut down his recruitment and committed to Miss State and Phillips is all OU

I think he will play Buck Linebacker - behind Key if Chaisson goes to Texas. Didn't have gaudy stats, but is a solid potential pass rusher - could be special, depending on how he develops. He is not a Day 1 threat to start like Key was or Chaisson is.

53 Ben Nola LB 6-4 195 Fr. HS Monroe, La. (Neville HS) [Walk-on?]

Doubt he does anything except scout team and, maybe, special teams.

With his frame - he could be in a pickle - if he gets to 265 - I'm not sure if he would be stout enough to play DE in a 3-man line. He's not a real threat to play a stand up, pass rush position and isn't really a cover guy either - might be an option at Mack or Rover - but I suspect it will be reserve duty - depending on who else we get.

Listen chicken little, as long as they don't come out and make a statement they're still a great chance they become Tigers.

OU plays in the big 12 where there is nothing but wide open offenses, definitely not an ideal situation for blue chip linebackers to be constantly dropping into coverages. LSU is a much better fit to showcase his talents. Gay wants to be prepped for the NFL, he's got the best chance for this as a Tiger.

State has a pretty stellar track record for putting LB's in the league under Mullen. Combine that with Grantham's record with LB's and you have a solid argument. I don't think he's going to suffer from a lack of development at either school.

Who the frick are you talking to? I love recruiting but it's not the end all if a kid doesn't pick LSU.

Won't need any emergency linebackers in waiting.

Gonna lock these current targets up and finish out the class with all needs met and needed depth added.

If downvotes for positivity still fly, pile them on!

Brooks and possibly Tyler Taylor. Both are long shots tho.

Tyler Taylor is going to Alabama.

I like state, but teams attack their weakness, their secondary. Until this is remedied, linebackers can't pin down their ears and play down hill. No doubt he could be developed at state, there's just an advantage LSU presents at the time.

Where he might be processed in 2 years. They are more than overloaded at LB.

Based on size and speed alone we have guys who can potentially move inside if need be. Doesn't matter what they were recruited as out of high school if they have the physical tools to play the position.

Of course you have:

Devin White - 6'1 255
Michael Divinity - 6'2 234

Then guys who can step up in a pinch:

Ray Thornton - 6'3 222
Andre Anthony - 6'5 219

On top of who we may sign in this class:

Ellis Brooks
Tyler Taylor
Jacob Phillips

And who we have as returning seniors:

Devin Voorhies - 6'2 223
Corey Thompson - 6'2 222
MJ Patterson - 6'4 225

We will be ok. Obviously it is not ideal for certain players to be put in the position to play in an unnatural position, all I am saying is it wouldn't be the end of the friggin world. Also add in the fact that this is weights from last year and a lot of these guys will be adding needed weight.

He told Miss St he will be going there according to their mods. All info. seems to be pointing to his mom winning out and him staying home.
