Maybe I'm just old fashioned (and if I am, so be it), but I don't think there's such a thing as "consensual sex" when we're talking about two 17 year olds and a 14 year old.

Senior boy and freshman girl isn't some new millennial development.

Amazing how many grandparents and great grandparents got married so young and none ever had sex at 14.

It was determined that it was consensual, I think those should keep it in their pants but I also think daddy is a dick for turning them in. He should beat his kids arse for being easy.

Yes I do. I understand that "times change" and a lot of things that were wrong when I was growing up are acceptable and ok know. Nevertheless, some standards should NOT change. I realize I'll be in the minority of this topic, but that won't alter my personal standards and expectations.

Exactly.

1) We all know that when a girl decides that she's ready to screw, she's going to find someone to screw and the 13-15 year old girls love the boys with wheels. Kids are stupid.

2) If you don't want the Freshmen screwing the Seniors, then separate them out in a separate school. Freshmen and Sophs can go to a separate school from the Jrs and Srs. It won't stop it, but it would slow it down.

Can still be complicated, but different set of rules if married to each other.

I know this wasn't real life but wasn't the chick in "Gone with the Wind" 16? Wasn't that just about a grown arse man trying to bang her?
You couldn't put that storyline in a serious movie today.

So a woman can consent to being married at 14, but not casual sex?

Actually it sounds more like felony than misdemeanor charge.
§80. Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile

2) A person who is seventeen years of age or older has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is twelve years of age or older but less than fifteen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender; or

§80.1.  Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile
A. Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when a person who is seventeen years of age or older but less than nineteen years of age has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is fifteen years of age or older but less than seventeen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender, and when the difference between the age of the victim and age of the offender is greater than two years.

Even if she said yes, that still doesn't meet the LA criteria of consensual sex.

"The Age of Consent is the age at which a person is deemed by Louisiana law to be capable of consenting to, and engaging in, sexual acts. Anyone who engages in sexual activity of any type with a partner under the applicable Age of Consent is breaking the law and can be charged with crimes ranging from a misdemeanor to a felony (statutory rape) depending on the jurisdiction in which they are prosecuted."

"The Louisiana legal Age of Consent for sexual contact is 17 years old."

So a 17 year old boy having consensual sex with a 16 year old girl is a misdemeanor? Now that is ridiculous

You missed this in the article:

Louisiana law requires a four-year difference in ages for a felony to be filed.

Both boys are a few months shy of 18, so the felony is out

Well now we know what that guy meant last night by "He's not going anywhere

When I said he wasn't going anywhere, I had one fact wrong. I had this soon after it happened and had the details but not the correct age of the girl. I had her younger than 14 and that would have been a felony. That's why Insaid he wasn't going anywhere.

I think he gets through this with it being a 17 year old and 14 year old. I don't think he gets his college career ruined. A senior/freshman thing shouldn't ruin a guys life. It doesn't help that it was two guys and the girl. He was charged because the girl disappeared after the pep rally and the parents had the cops and everyone else out looking for her. By the time they found her, they were freaked out already and pissed off.

Why did you leave out this part???

§80. Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile

A. Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when:

(1) A person who is seventeen years of age or older has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is thirteen years of age or older but less than seventeen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender and when the difference between the age of the victim and the age of the offender is four years or greater; or

yeah i was always under the impression if under the age of 18 then as long as it's truly consensual that it's okay if both are minors as long as within four years of each other.. and as long as they are over 13..

this protects high schoolers having sex with each other.

although i haven't kept up with the laws, and this was for another state.

No its not.

quote:

Age of Consent in Louisiana In Louisiana, age of consent laws are more complicated than those of most other states. There is no definite age of when a minor may consent to sex in Louisiana. Instead, it varies depending on a few factors, such as the age of both parties, and the age difference, if any, between them. In regards to the age difference, Louisiana is unique because it allows a larger age gap between younger minors than older minors. A person between the ages of 13 and 15 can consent to have sex with someone who is up to 3 years older than them, but a person between the ages of 15 and 17 may consent to sex only if the other person is 2 years older or less. For example, in terms of a 3 years age difference, a 13 year old can consent to sex with a person who is 16 years old, but a 15 year old may not consent to sex with a 18 year old. However, a person 17 or older can consent to have sex with a person of any age. - See more at: https://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/louisiana-age-of-consent-lawyers.html#sthash.NTiklPqR.dpuf
