Have you seen the interviews with this kid or read the articles? He is mature beyond his years and shows leadership abilities all the time.

This kid absolutely has what it takes to come in and be a leader as a freshman.

People post these kinds of questions on here, not to find out what the answer is or how great/horrible the team could possibly be. People post these kinds of questions to see what kind of fans LSU has, whether they are cynical, pessimistic, optimistic, hopeful or loyal.

He will play as a freshman but am not sure if he will take on the leader role, although that is the role the starting QB usually takes.

Nope, there's no way he can.
If you've heard this young man talk he has confidence but isn't stuck up. He's a natural born leader.

Should have been the 1st black president.

unfortunately there is going to be so many expectations on Shep when he gets here. When things turn out other than what your Joe beergut fan wants him to be, they are going to turn on him pretty quickly. Pretty unfair IMO

Not for him. He wants the expectations. He wants the ball in his hands. He wants the expectations.

Like everyone else on the team.

Very Very Unfair IMO.

true but it comes with the position. Think Maximus from gladiator: win the people and become greater than the emperor, or something like that. Have faith the kid is up to it.

By the way, not to get all Biblical, but hebrews 11:1

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

he will enroll in 4 wks (I believe he is early-enrollee)?

AND he will have the time needed to asure playing time....not only does he have more talent the the QBs we have now but he will be here before spr.????

YES he will play! he is already a leader! the guy on every hl real, comes on his own dime to the gms, talks to recruits, gels w/ current plyrs...etc. etc. etc.

the guys apart of the culture already!

he is what is known as a PHENOM!!! player a gm chgr...1 of the puzzle pieces we need!

we are very lucky to have him...its nice after the season we had..

He will garner respect and lead more through his effort and play (i.e. Addai type). He will become more of a vocal leader in his Soph year (i.e. Clayton/Bowe, etc.).

Agreed, he's going to have to come in here and learn the offense. Granted he is coming in the spring so he will be here for spring training. But look at Teabow...he didn't start as a freshmen. We got a great look this year at what happens when you through a freshmen QB in to the fires of the SEC. From watching his games though. it looks as if he's going to be great.

I can't take Biblical faith references seriously from a guy with Darth Vader and a naked woman on his sig pics.

Shep will be very influential to the young teammates (many of which will have playing time) but you can't seriously expect he'll be more influential than the starting seniors...

I guess some people can.
