Clifton Garrett discussion: Weakside or Mike

I'm liking him more at weakside now, competing with Debo to replace Barrow. I think Beckwith will excel playing MLB once he starts getting more reps there, he's gonna lock down that position for the next 3 yrs.

Hes a mike.
And if we get him, he very well could be the most talented MLB we have gotten with Chavis as our LB coach.
Chavis turned some average recruits/players into All SEC performers and NFL starters. Imagine what he could do with a stud talent like Garrett...

Melvin Jones was more an athlete than a LB. He played QB, WR, RB, and LB on his high school team. Jones was and is very natural with the ball. Putting him at FB wasnt a shock.
Garrett is a true, hard hitting, MLB.

isn't beckwith more athletic than garrett and therefore should be the one playing on the outside

Beckwith is going to be a star. Best 2013 recruit in the class. IMO

A guy like CJ Johnson was tabbed as a future All American caliber Mike and got shifted to D End at Ole Miss. Beckwith was labeled as a DE by recruiting sites and now is playing MLB. It seems hard to predict exactly where guys will end up when they are still in HS.

Yea I think Beckwith will be the guy taking Barrows spot next year. His got DE size, but has OLB speed and athleticism. You dont want to corral his speed and athleticism in the middle. You wanna turn that speed and athleticism lose.

My body was ready to receive CJ johnson I really thought we were going to get him. Garrett inside outside it doesnt matter as long as he's on the field and crushing offensive players dreams
