Gavin is a senior to be. His brother Garin got drafted in the 4th round by the Red Sox.

Well 5 state titles and 7 appearances in the final game in the last 13 years is pretty solid I'd have to say.

Being that they haven't been to the finals the last 2 years.....I'd question those numbers.

Honestly.....I believe PM is "put off" by the arrogance of Barbe....just my O. It's more than just one kid giving his word on a signing figure....then taking less.

A-ha, so this guy winning POY as a Junior would lead me to believe that he should be drafted pretty high next year. So, odds are he wont even make it to Oxford, correct?

I don't see how pissing off the head coaches of Louisiana's elite baseball programs is a positive thing. Do you see anything positive in Cecchini's switch to Ole Miss?

The Cecchini's are a fine, fine family. Much respected and like in Lake Charles. Heck, Glenn is a special ed teacher as well as the head coach. He has great (positive) influence throughout the Lake Charles baseball community. He had a very, very young team last year. Don't you want the head coach of that type of program at least NEUTRAL to LSU?

Because baseball has the farm system football doesn't have, they will always take players from college. If football had a farm system or players could go from high school to pros many would. college is the farm system for the NFL. Pm better get back on the good side of the Barbe program or they will keep sending players to coach Bianco, who has lake charles ties, at ole piss. The cecchini's
are a nice and well respected family in the area. I know Glenn and Pm better get on his good side or he will continue watching good players go elsewhere.

Doesn't this respect go BOTH ways......LSU is THE University in Louisiana and it may affect HIS program if LSU isn't an option..in the future...for some of these kids.

There is more to this story and it's not all PM's fault.

Agree with lkchucktiger. Show me ONE 5A program that has ever started four freshman in their lineup. Three of those freshman were named to the All-District team. These guys lost to Jesuit 2-1 in the quarterfinals, the eventual state champs.

Cecchini and Barbe are good for baseball in Louisiana. They have sons involved, so perhaps it got a little personal with LSU, but I think we would be making a big mistake in not giving these other kids a chance. Gavin is going to be a high draft pick, so yes, he may or may not make it to a campus. But I think these other Barbe kids will more than likely be very good college prospects, maybe not drafted as high, and therefore kids we should be pursuing.

Can anyone confirm that PM is backing off all of the Barbe recruits or is all of this a bunch of speculation since PM backed off the youngest son?

lsu is recruiting barbe players. Cecchini is retiring. all will be well.

cicchini isn't the saint he's made out to be on this board. doesn't mean he's a bad guy, just not the angel some have made him. there is a reason he's had issues with multiple coaches. jones and p.m.. it's not just jones and p.m., cecchini has a part.

From what I have heard, Arkansas and Ole Miss have been spotted at their games, but no sign of LSU. I beleive PM said it himself back when he was upset about the kid taking MLB money that he was going to back off of that program.

You are correct. LSU has very little presence at Barbe. Ole Miss, A & M, Texas, Tulane and Rice are very regular attendees. Bianco is about to own that market. I am such a die hard, LSU fan and it just makes me sick to see this happen. But, once you let someone get their foot in the door it is awfully hard to shut it.

He does make the decisions for LSU Baseball though......don't kid yourself

All it's gonna take is Cecchini leaving.....and we'll run Ole Miss and whomever out of LC again.

Bottom line......PM has bigger issues to iron out and he WILL do this. Kissing Barbe HS arse isn't one of em.

Are you kidding me? Good idea. Let's give Bianco a 5 year run at Barbe while PM overcomes his hurt feelings and waits for a high school coach to retire.

I wish these kids the best at OM, Arkie, Tulane, or wherever they may go (including LSU).

It's up to the KID to decide if LSU is right for him ....and not Barbe, Cecchini, etc.

I think both sides are kinda butthurt actually.......
