Who do you think gave Cam a call? The Franks?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read around here and other sites was that Franks had made the decision to flip prior to our situation.

I mean if that is true that would be a huge sign that he's still considering us.

Good lord people....

We need to sign at least 1 good QB prospect.

And it looks like the coaches are trying like heck to get 1 good one.

Franks, Haskins, it doesn't really matter guys. We need 1 good one!

Catastrophe syndrome is what so many posters suffer from on this site.

First sign of adversity? Franks was gone in October but the staff got him to hang on for a few weeks. He's done nothing to show he has any interest in LSU for 2 months.
Les and Cam visited and he says he's still not interested. Now Cam is using the entire contact period to chase down a kid who doesn't want to come to LSU rather than identifying and contacting other prospects. Not a sound strategy, IMO of course.

As long as Eason is entertaining the idea of flipping to UF, there's no reason why we stop recruiting Franks.
We obviously should be contacting other QBs as well though.
Only Cam knows why he's going back out there. We can only speculate everything else.

Maybe Haskins is not all that into LSU and Franks is a desperate ploy. That's probably the more likely scenario. LSU will probably end up taking someone low on the pole. I still don't think Franks would ever see a snap here either because he'll just end up transferring when things don't go his way.

Same story...another year. Didn't prepare and recruit our asses off in case Franks left and here we are being desperate on trying to get guys like Haskins or some small glimmer of hope to get Franks back here. The Miles summary with this tenure here in a nutshell - all the eggs in a basket busts everywhere.

Every class should have at minimum 1 QB but ideally 2. Recruit your arse off for a blue chip one and then get a project QB who has no problem sitting developing. Eventually you'll hit gold somewhere. As you're bringing new ones in process the old ones who aren't showing positive signs in development. Get the choo choo train going. It's shitty but LSU has to win not be a model citizen so guys like Franks can screw us over. The program is bigger than a guy like Franks. If you can't realize that cya. Regardless what happens, you should be recruiting more QBs in case something happens. It's their job to sell to the guys they have committed already we're just doing this for insurance in case you leave. If they can't sell it then they're not good recruiters. Lazy recruiting, stubborn or loyalty...w/e the cause, they're the reason we're in the predicament we've been in.

Hopefully it can change soon.

this is not a waste of time since cam doesn't do anything else. he has not visited any non- qb during the contact period. visit franks this week and leave door open if eason goes to uf. setup ov for haskins in jan. since franks is a EE. not the way I would do it, but ok strategy since cam doesn't have shite to do unless he starts watching tt film.

This is my feelings as well. I don't like this one bit, sorry! I have zero faith in Franks not only talent wise but emotionally wise. You have to have extremely thick skin to play that position and I just don't see it with him, not at all!!

I'd prefer us cut our losses with Franks and devote the recruiting elsewhere. I'm of course not the staff but everything I've read about this guy leads me to believe he'll never mature enough to be LSU's QB. Regardless, I'm okay with us taking him as long as LSU doesn't stop there. I'd like us to at least get a project QB behind him in this same class or someone who isn't super highly recruited that shows a lot of potential. Maybe a shorter guy? Let Franks enroll where he's locked into the program and then focus efforts on getting another QB. If he transfers and gets pissed...guess what? It was going to happen the minute he didn't start over Harris.

I understand what you're saying, but we've been snake bitten by a QB before. Add in the fact we haven't had great QBs and it's understandable to be frustrated. While I don't think they should just give up on Franks (because I'd still take him), I hope they are doing the smart thing and working on other QBs (and maybe they are, I don't know). Putting all your eggs in one basket is just not smart. If they miss on Franks, and get no one else...it's going to be a nasty melt on here.

Honestly I wouldn't stop recruiting a position of need like the QB and I wouldn't tell a QB that I would stop recruiting for that position.

You are 100% correct, we have been burnt and Franks might be burning us too. I understand he has to do what he has to do, but so does LSU.

Recruiting changes daily and we ask 17 to 19 year olds to make a commitment to a school while all these other schools continue to court them. Some are going to change their mind and that is fine, no hate there. I think it needs to be explained that we are in a position of need and while we appreciate your commitment, we have been burned too many times. We need to keep relationships with other options incase you do change your mind.

I just don't think you ever give up until the players you want are signed. Winners keep fighting until its over, losers hang their head and "move on" when things get tough. While I disagree with some of the recruiting, I am happy to see them still fighting for recruits they want.

if Franks is your QB then you recruit him until he either enrolls at another school or is signed with another school.

I never said stop recruiting the QB position, I would have never made that deal to begin with. I might would have said that I will not accept another commit as long as he enrolls early, but I wouldn't have cut off recruiting to QB's. I want a QB to want to compete and have confidence in his abilities.

Our history with QB's leaving us at the alter should be proof enough to any young QB that being cautious is the smart move.

All eggs in one basket is nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen.

What does it say about a kid who runs at the site of competition? How will things play out if he doesnt beat Harris or Etling out his first year? Will he accept that he has to wait his turn and learn the offense and improve his mechanics? Or will he transfer because hes not the starter? Id rather have someone willing to compete and fight for their spot and someone who is content with learning the system behind someone else (if needs be). It seems to me this kid is full of talent but lacks heart. I hope im proven wrong but Im seeing a Gunner Kiel 2.0

in case you guys don't remember, cam tried to recruit Patterson after cam committed. that didn't work. it is very hard to get 2 top 10 qbs in one class. so, yea we could have continued to recruit other guys but who would come here with franks committed.

also, it was reported that narcisse chose auburn, in part, because we had franks.

finally, look at the fiasco at aTm with 2 5 star qbs. it doesn't seem to work.

I don't like this. I just hope we get a QB in this class. It doesn't have to be a 4 star or some top 10 guy either. If Cam feels like he needs to keep pursuing Franks when Feliepe has already broken everything wide open then I really don't know what they are going to do. I hope he has a QB in his back pocket.
