He’s not only the #1 QB in his class but he’s the #1 overall recruit in the nation. I’ve watched a little bit of his film and he looks identical to JD5. It’s obvious he’s very good & 5 star worthy, but for being #1 overall in the nation, there’s not that thing (in my eyes) that POPS & makes you say WOW. I’m not a professional evaluator of talent so maybe someone with better knowledge could give more insight on what made him #1 overall

This is some of the best HS QB play I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure you could create a QB in a lab any better. Then realize this is just his Sophomore highlight tape.

Let me tell you a little story.

Early 90s, I went to a high school football game in my wife’s hometown. There was a guy who was being very highly recruited to play DB. He was committed to another university, but LSU was still trying.

He played QB that night as well as DB. As I watched I thought, I don’t get it. He doesn’t pass very well. Looks like a good enough athlete, but he hasn’t really made any wow moment plays. He is overrated.

That young man was Ed Reed.

There is a reason people like you and me don’t get a say in ratings or recruiting. Just enjoy following it.

A talent evaluator whom I trust said he’s the best high school QB prospect since Trevor Lawrence. This kid is super elite.

These two quotes seem contradictory.

Another tidbit is that he is even young for his class. He could really be a ‘26 recruit because of an August bday.

And some evaluators are saying he’s going to be the highest regarded QB prospect since Lawrence

Which, of course, includes Caleb Williams, DJ, Bryce Young, etc …

I mean, damn. I’m not sure how you don’t watch that tape of his Sophmore season and go WOW. The layered throws and anticipation he throws with, not to mention his balance and pocket presence is amazing for a 10th grader. Hell, it’s amazing for a college QB today.

You just compared him to the potential heisman trophy winner and can’t understand why he’s a 5 star?

Your opinion would differ if he was all in on Bama.

Hes questioning why he's the top prospect period not a 5*. Daniels should be the Heisman winner and is the best player in the country imo. He still isn't rated the top prospect in the country or even the best qb. The rankings are based around the NFL draft. Best player doesn't equal best prospect.

Hes #1 overall because it's early and he's a qb with a huge following. He may stay there, he may not. Remember just a year ago Dominic Raiola was all the rage and the best since... Now he's not the top qb in the class. Underwood is the best since Lawrence yet in Lawrence's year Justin Fields was considered equal, even better by some. Things change, like narratives. Even those completely made up due to selective memory.

Watched about 15 seconds and that is all that is needed to see the talent this young man has. If LSU lands this guy, watch out!

Damn, that's a good tape. I really hope he signs with LSU.
