re: Concert at Red Rocks
Posted by Count deMonet on 5/8/24 at 8:42 am
We saw the Avetts 2 years ago there. Got to the venue about 90 minutes early and tailgated in the south lot. We only had beer and wine, but lots of locals ate grab and go meals. I dont recall anyone cooking.
We stayed in Lakewood which was a 15 or 20 min drive....

It was recommended by the hotel employees. It was a short walk for us. We got there at 7:30 for the opening and still had to wait 20 minutes for th...

It was a full day including the 3 hour commute. Once we got there, We walked all the way up to the abbey and did a tour of that with our tour group of 6. A...
re: Phone use Internationally
Posted by Count deMonet on 5/7/24 at 9:13 pm
We rented a Wi-Fi hot spot from Hippocket. It was $85 for 12 days. My wife and I both could use it without incurring international charges. If you go that route, bring an external battery or two as it only lasts about 4 - 6 hours depending on usage. We always charged it on train rides. ...

Our tours we set up on our own or with our travel agent included

re: What's the closest you or a family member has been to a part of history?

I was in the dome for the Saints NFC championship victory over the Vikings.
I rode the gondola across the MS river the day it opened, which was the week before the worlds fair opened.
My maternal grandfather is first cousins with Edwin Edwards. I didn’t know that until last year and I’m in m...

I remember going into FSU last year, Moscona said we would see AA put up stats in that game as a PR, WR and RB. I guess he was technically 2/3. ...

re: When was last time you answered a phone call on a home landline? When did you phase out?
Posted by Count deMonet on 3/10/24 at 8:22 am
A little different turn on land lines:
In the 80s, we had 5 of us within 4 years as it was a second marriage for both parents. We had two phone lines in the house and one was listed as “children’s telephone” in the white pages. We still used our parent’s line as our line was often being used. ...
Makes me wonder what Rob Reiner (Meathead) is up to.
Golf cart buying tips
Posted by Count deMonet on 2/13/24 at 10:34 am
Looking for a moderately priced used golf cart for nothing more than driving around the neighborhood to visit friends. Have a garage which would accommodate it, since mine is too damn small for cars.
Don’t want some tricked out lifted thing.
I only play 2-3 rounds of golf a year and the loca...

Or earbuds. Only person in his row and he is listening to a soap opera type show in Spanish.
He also tried to squeeze into comfort plus (I’m in economy with the rest of the poor).
I think he farted too.
At least we are about to land. ...
