See where we have offered several guys lately, and it appears that most have already been offered by bama. Is their net that wide, or are they just beating us to punch in recruiting game.

Would seem to think that offering a player fairly early in process would be a pretty good selling point.

Its just the ones people focus on. We offer 90% of the instate kids 1st. Many from Texas and FL we offered 1st. Couple in GA and even AL(they still haven't offered Broussard).

That said, they usually will offer many national/southeast kids before us because they have a much larger support staff dedicated to recruiting and scouting. Plus they are more dependent on GA and the Carolinas than we are so they obviously target kids their first. Its all in which kiss you choose to look at

Bama throws offers out at kids and they mean nothing. When LSU offers kids it's because we truly see a fit for that kid in our system and that offer is a privilege. BAMA offers every kid in the top 100 that is in the south without ever laying eyes on them in person or at their film

Very True, this year Shyheim Carter one of the top DB's in the Country was offered by Bama before LSU, This past recruiting Class Daylon Charlot A TOP 100 prospect in the NATION was offered by BAMA Months BEFORE US, RIDICULOUS. Frank Wilson finally got some help with Coach O. They got the kind of energy that can keep up with Saban. And we have herd for Years that the North Louisiana kids feel that Miles takes them for Granite.

Maybe they Should Make counter Tops?

Anyway...here is the way I look at it. There is much happening in the college football landscape. Many other teams are on the rise. Saban in a good recruiter, without a doubt, but much of his recruiting success is based upon championships. As other teams start knocking them off, that success will get less and less likely. The "accept everyone who wants to come and then process them when a higher ranked recruit commits" method will catch up to them when that happens. And despite LSUs struggles over the past few years (don't worry fellow pumpers..not a bashing comment) we have still been near the top of the recruiting rankings. This says volumes about the recruiting process that is in place here. We certainly don't want the name of offering everyone and turning kids away 3 days before national signing day. Like it or not, it's not good for long term program building.

2016 WR - Dee Anderson #92 National #16 WR
2016 WR/DE - Stephen Sullivan - #68 National #9 WR
2015 WR - Tyron Johnson - #27 National #5 WR
2015 WR - Derrick Dillon - #169 National #21 WR
2014 WR - Malachi Dupre - #17 National #2 WR
2014 WR - Trey Quinn - #78 National #10 WR

Additionally, LSU has offered scholarships to 19 other WRs in the 2016 signing class. If they wanted him, they would have offered him early.

They wanted Charlot and so did I but he wasn't a top priority.

That's pretty much the point.

Feleipe Franks has been committed for 8 months.
Devin White has had an offer in hand for 18 months.
Ed Alexander has had an offer in hand for 14 months.
Keion Joyner has had an offer in hand for 14 months.

The guys that we want and/or are at a position of need we address early. Charlot was a luxury.

Its very half true, for every example like Carter or Charlot, I can name others, like Willie Allen LT from Curtis or Tyron Johnson who everyone agreed was the #1 player in the state last that LSU offered first, along with D Campbell, and even the #1 overall player for 2016, Greg Little who LSU offered almost a year ago, but Bama didn't offer until January of this year

and it is taken for granted, not granite

What does that have to do with anything I said? They still throw out a hundred more offers a year than any other D1 program in the country. That's obsurd. That's why they have to pull offers on kids every year at the end of the recruiting cycle.

It's strategic and it's smart. LSU likes to evaluate and make sure they fit. Saban puts pressure on LSU by offering top tier talent in LA early. It puts LSU on notice and pressures LSU to quicken their evaluations. It also causes us, as fans, to stress on keeping state kids because LSU is the only state school and LSU fans aren't use to seeing its own leave the state. It's unlike any other talent rich state in the sec. When kids see bama offer early and LSU slow play, it causes doubt. It allows players an excuse to choose bama if they want. It causes LSU to work harder to secure its own. LSU fans go crazy at the mere perception we are being out worked in our own state. When it becomes a reality, it levels up a bit. Fantastic strategy.

I think LSU has screwed the pooch in n la but it can be remedied. This staff doesn't lack recruiting prowess so the deficiencies can be overcome. I don't think many other staffs could ward off the attack as well as Les has and he doesn't get near enough recognition for it...recruiting wise.
