This is always where the argument leads, and then I ask this same question and never get an answer. What, specifically, should LSU spend more money on? Our coaches recruit every hour of every day that the NCAA allows them to. Money can't create more hours in the day, or make a pitch better. The only variable, is whether they're driving to Nola ($60 in gas) to see Tyron Johnson versus booking a flight to Oregon ($1000) to see a pac12 guy who will probably just stay home. Bear in mind, with that tank of gas, this coach can drop by eight other Nola highschools and check in on prospects from multiple classes.

More coaches = more opportunity to contact a player and evaluate whether a player gets an offer. I want more flyers out there. I want our recruiting to be marketed to kids. I'm not asking for millions of more dollars, but I think an increase is well deserved.

Aside from all that, do you really think that the coaches take the budget into consideration if an OOS kid shows interest? Would we tell a Cali 5-star he can't take his official to us just because it's not in the budget? Hell no. People seem to have this idea that the budget is handed to the coaches and they're told not to spend over. I see it completely the other way around. The coaches do what they think they should and spend what they need, and the budget just reflects what it cost afterwards. For LSU, that just happens to be a lower number.

I agree. We have a lower number due to proximity to most of our recruits.

My point is that there is always an opportunity to do more. More money should lead to more ideas/staff and support for recruiting.

Now, have I seen the expense report for the recruiting department? No. Is it easy to hide numbers and move things around due to overhead? Yes. But LSU would have no reason to lower our numbers compared to other schools.

I believe the AD is doing what's in our best interest and they are doing a great job. However, I think they are completely within their rights to request additional funding.

With the rule changes, do you not believe we're doing this? Mawae gets paid to break down film, and works camps. Coach O too. Patterson, as mentioned... Like I said, just because it's not being filed under recruiting doesn't mean money isn't being spent. We turned in 7mil to the school last year. The money is there if there is a legal way to use it, and I refuse to believe the coaches are just like "nah, we're good."

oh, we are. But we do not have the recruiting support staff that other comparable programs have. However, that doesn't mean ours is worse.

And you'll have to see my above edits that also agree with you.

I will also say that I don't think our recruiting needs an overhaul. I personally want more money allocated towards facilities than recruiting. I think we're doing pretty well in that category.

Nutrition center should be the bomb. Personalized meal plans, chefs on duty to cook it all up. Nutritionists to personalize everything

"He's just enjoying the process" is such bullshite after last year. I take a kid seriously when he rates the schools in order of interest.

Leading in August and hasn't even been on campus for an official visit? Yea I'm feeling good . We pushed insanely hard for Quinn, hoping that effort pays off with Johnson!

Clemson leading in August for a five star recruit. Looks like its déjà vu with Robert Nkemdiche all over again..

Lol, no, he's busy finishing second in Georgia and the East Coast.

Easily one of the stupidest posts all day. I'll take Lacouture, Herron, Bain, Gilmore, Valentine, Godchaux, Neal, Bower, Patterson, Teuhema, Clark, etc... over just about every other DL squad in the country. That's a ton of talent in just 2 years.

You're not too bright, are you?
Brick wasn't the main recruiter on most of these guys, numb nuts.
Also, you obviously haven't the smarts to recognize sarcasm.

Where we've fallen behind is recognizing the biggest influences in the recruits' lives, IMO. Saban and his huge staff are masters at this. Somebody is driving these kids there for numerous unofficials and I betting they're not using their own money to do it.
We have two Player Personnel guys, I can't remember how many they have, but these guys have a freakin Twitter Team to pump recruits 24/7, for goodness sakes.
We need to get on the same playing field, hire BryanKRoy, lol.
