Yes

You really want to compare the stats of someone playing in Mississippi against someone playing in Georgia?

Sure

I'm not claiming he is the greatest ever. But I don't see how that claim is any different than you claiming that there are 3 in Georgia better. You have no idea.

Looks like 152 to me.

Well, I can use the ratings for this year's top 3 in Georgia and compare those to his rating last year. Seems pretty simple to me.

None of it means crap for any player until you adjust and produce in D1 ball.

Yes
We can speculate but that is all that it is.

Statistically it is still better to get higher rated players vs lower and to get at least 1 qb per recruiting cycle but it is still a crap shoot.

96th here, regular 247 had him finish 93rd. Rivals was the only system that had him lower than 100.

Yeah that still doesn't support your claim. For one Myles has better high school stats than all 3 so stat wise he is better. You won't know how good they really are until they are competing on the same level (college). So let's let the next few years play out shall we.

High school stats are completely meaningless.

And rankings are absolutely a full proof system of judging potential right?

Here is last year's drafts #1 QB taken

Ranked #213

I didn't say either is infallible but the high school stats ESPECIALLY show absolutely no real correlation to high level college football success for QBs. Teams face all sort of various competition and run different systems in high school.

Heck in college football you see these video game offenses in the Big 12 that cant produce a quality NFL QB to save their lives. Yet they will combine for 4000, 5000, 6000 total yards of offense in a season with stats like 50 TD to 8 turnovers.

Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time can make you look a lot better than you really are. High school stats though, c'mon man. I think Brennan is very good, but he mostly faced awful competition in a perfect pass happy system for him. Of course a guy of his level will tear up high school...and yes I'd tend to lean more on the rankings than high school stats, although again, neither are perfect.

I think fields vs. brennan vs. narcisse would be an awesome QB competition here next year. Fields has the talent to start anywhere as a true freshman. Not only does he have the talent, but he's physically ready as a high school senior too. The biggest knock on Brennan is he still looks like a beanpole. I don't really buy he's even close to that listed 193. He looks 175-180.

MS State is proof that if you have cut mold you want for a QB and know how to develop players into that mold, rankings don't matter you just go get your guy based on the eye test. I believe Canada can succeed with that approach and will probably have success with Lowell or Myles but.....if you sort the recruiting rankings for the last 10-15 years, you can clearly see the elite caliber player most of the overall #1 QB's end up being (most not all). It all boils down to percentages, you chances of getting a great players are simply higher with one vs the other but doesn't mean either is a bad option if you have the right staff.

Fields not coming here. We have a poor QB reputation. If Im the #1 player in the country, im going somewhere where I can fully display my talent as a QB. Not hand the ball off 50 times per game and only throwing between 15-18 passes.

He sure is... but the reputation is still there until the product on the field is changed.

Can Canada change that? Yes. People are still waiting to see.

We've seen better pass play calling in two games than we saw in years from Miles. I like the direction we are already taking.

Doesn't really make any sense. Why is the reputation the same with a new HC, new OC and new QB coach? The school has no impact on lineage of players, it's how the coaches coach them up.

Only two games in and he has changed that. The QB rating and production the first two games was never seen in the Miles era less the anomaly named Mett.

Went about as well as we could've hoped. He was impressed with the environment, liked the pace and tempo of the offense, got a much better feel for the staff and program. Biggest thing is he made it obvious he's wide open now. We positioned ourselves well here for sure.
