My pharmacist told me today that due to DEA restrictions etc he’s no longer going to fill my Vyvanse 50 mg prescription.
I’ve called 5 local pharmacies and none have any available. Baton Rouge area
I don’t take it daily so I might just try to get by without it.
Has anyone faced these difficulties?
The pharmacist did tell me that there should have a generic version within maybe 6-7 months.
Several pharmacists I spoke to said it wouldn’t matter if I switched to other similar meds that I would face the same difficulty.
Has anyone had any success in the Baton Rouge area?
Thanks

I’ve been taking it for about 15 years and up until today I’ve never had issues.
I’ve tried Adderall with no success

Vyvanse 50 mg
Whoa. Maybe time to try to taper after 15 years?

Is it a shortage or actual restrictions?

Damn OP... do you even sleep?

And to above poster: there's a shortage on Adderall for sure. I haven't heard of a Vyvanse shortage, but I do know that the generic either became or is becoming available in 2023. I'm not sure if that will have some effect on supply and/or insurance restrictions. I'll have to fill my son's scrip in a couple of weeks, so I reckon I'll find out then (and before anyone jumps in on the ADD isn't real... my son has a genetic abnormality and is on the spectrum, and Vyvanse allows him to actually succeed in school/life in a way he couldn't before).

Its a shortage of all Adderall derivatives. My son takes Concerta, and for 15 years there's been no problem, then Oct 22, can't get it anywhere unless you drive 25-50 miles to pull other pharmacies available stock.
Switching doesn't help either because a shortage of many puts too much stress on the others.

I know that feel bro. My doctor always said I was artistic but I just couldn’t focus. It was so bad that they wouldn’t let me into art school. Now that my doctor prescribed me amphetamines I feel like I’m finally getting stuff done

I’m not sure. The pharmacist was trying to explain the situation.
I’ve heard that some pharmacies only get a certain allotment

Taper to what - it doesn’t matter the dosage it’s a shortage of medication not the dosage level

I just meant that sounds on the high side to me and maybe you could take this as an opportunity to start downsizing the dose. (Said with love/concern, not judgment - I have a Vyvanse person in my life).

I started out with 20, then 30 and have used 60 and 70. I’m tapering down to 50’s. With this “issue” going on - this might be a good time to ween myself totally.
When I was I administration positions in my life it was easier to manage things because everything was structured. I’ve been in sales for 22 years and nothing is really structured so the Vyvanse helps with the focus.
Trust me I’d prefer to take smaller dosages

As has been said, national shortages of all ADD meds. I'm just giving my 12 year old meth in the morning. But he has to snort a little at lunch too because it isn't time released.
