Also I highly recommend getting the pivot off Amazon to be able to rotate the screen. $40 well worth it.

Ours came with the pivoting screen already. Haven't done anything other than a cycle class yet but I could see the swivel coming in handy.

I would warn that installing the pivot attachment on a normal bike would void the warranty.

I see Costco has some Peleton knockoff.

Is that any good?

Can't speak to the bike itself but I believe you can get the Peloton app on an Ipad and use it on other bikes. You'll just have to adjust the resistance and things manually.

I did this for a year before I got the actual Peloton. Would do peloton app on my phone and use a regular spin bike.

Not the same thing at all. The resistance called out on Peloton is not the same as other bikes, so you have to figure out the comparison.

I mean….it will be ok if you don’t care about any of that. But ask anyone that did that set up before they got an actual Peloton and they will tell you having a Peloton bike is wayyyyyy better.

I am addicted to her tabata rides. Her and Kendall's metal rides are the ones i do when i want to die. Definitely get some looks from my wife

Give it about 8-10 rides before you decide if you need a different seat. I got used to it pretty quick, and it will soften up some over time. I thought about getting a padded seat cover, but my wife reminded me that those always slid around when we used to do spin classes together at the gym back in the day. I only notice the seat being hard now when I'm doing a long climb in a ride where you're seated for more than 4-5 minutes straight at high resistance. I do a bunch of interval training where you're up and down a bit, and only on the longer rides do I even notice the seat. Get a set of padded bike shorts instead.

I thought this as well on my first few rides, but now after a week of riding, either I've gotten used to it, or the seat has soften up enough that I don't have a sore arse anymore

I was about to go get my Brooks saddle off my real bike after my first ride

I hope this is the case, the seat is killing me at the moment.

Anyone else do the strength classes? I've done a couple of intervals and arms rides, and a handful of the dumbbell or body weight classes.

I'm considering a set of quick adjustable dumbbells. I have an old, like from back in high school in the late 90s old, pair of Soloflex adjustables. Can load them up to 35 each if I'm using a pair, or up to 50 on one. It has 4 plates of 10, 5 and 2.5 for the pair of handles. The workout I just did was alternating between heavy and medium for different movements. Bent rows followed by reverse flies. I just don't have enough time to drop a plate off of each side and get the collar back on between the sets.

I could just grab a set of 20s and be done with it, and use those for the lighter weights and stack the adjustable ones up to 30-35 each depending on the movement. We also have a set of 1 lb, 3lb, and 8lb dumbbells, but those are pretty light for anything other than the intervals and arms stuff. Sort of thinking ahead to getting something the whole family can use easily. Like a set my wife can use anywhere from 5-15 lbs at the start, and up from there as she gains strength. I also get a little sticker shock at some of these adjustable sets. Anyone have a set that won't break the bank that can go up to 40-45 lbs per dumbbell?

I do the strength stuff more than I ride

I have a pair of 20s and 35s. Which is random but I am cheap as frick. I need to get a pair 25 or 30 and 45.

I've done a lot of the bodyweight workouts.

I haven't done any of the strength ones yet as I'm still building that part of my home gym, but I doubt I'll use their classes for that.

Maybe if I want to do one with the wife, but I'll use other programming for strength stuff.

I would just go with a light pair (like 20s) and a heavy pair (like 50s) to start.

I'm not a fan of the adjustable sets.

I'm more thinking adjustable for saving space. We built a new deck in the fall of 2020, and as part of that we built a home office for me off of it, so when I'm working I'm totally out of the house so the wife and kids don't interfere. That is also where we set the Peloton up, and I'm going to build a rack to hang on the wall for shoes and the bike weights. Wanting adjustable so I don't have 6-8 pairs of weights either on a rack or on the floor behind the bike. The wife is one of those where "everything has to look right" in the workout space. It doesn't bother me, but happy wife happy life.

The heavy for the arms stuff is going to be different than the legs stuff

Look on craigslist and FB marketplace for old dumbells.

Also, I haven't done any of those workouts yet since I just have the puny weights the Peloton came with.

We got ours new, but delivery times on those can range from several weeks to more than a month, depending on where you live. Ours took about 3 weeks, but I've seen stories of multiple reschedules on deliveries. If it is local and you can go pick it up, might be worth it. Do you know if it is still under warranty? I know you can extend the 1 year out to maybe 3 or 4 years, but not sure if that transfers from the original owner.
