Been having good luck with OMAD (do it 3-4 times/week). Is it ok to have a Coke Zero during the day several hours prior to my evening meal?

I don’t see why not. It’s zero calories. Unless you’re on a strict water fast.

its fine, there is nothing special about the fast other than controlling calories.

plenty of studies show zero calories drinks lead to more weight loss when used to control cravings.

have your zero calorie drink and enjoy

Conclusions and relevance: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that using LNCSBs as an intended substitute for SSBs was associated with small improvements in body weight and cardiometabolic risk factors without evidence of harm and had a similar direction of benefit as water substitution. The evidence supports the use of LNCSBs as an alternative replacement strategy for SSBs over the moderate term in adults with overweight or obesity who are at risk for or have diabetes.

ive tried to tell everyone on this board for years now....unless you are prepping for a show or are at a minimum below a true dexa scan 10%, meaning fricking peeled, to stop worrying about insulin response, meal timing, amount of carbs and all the other bullshite spouted on here and just worry about calories and protein

the only science is consistency and protein is always the star

every thing else is just strategies to control calories/eat enough protein

90% of your health benefits is gonna come from the fat loss itself.

Fasting. What is it about the fasting that you think is so special?

whatever works for you man. I only eat in a 8 hour window and drink 1 coke zero a day ever since losing 80 lbs over a decade ago.

Whatever works best for you and your schedule.

I generally agree with you, but that’s not the point.

Well I’ve gone from 195 lbs to 160. So I’m guessing fat loss

Again, you're missing the point. You went from 195 lbs to 160 lbs because you burned more calories than you consumed. Fasting was the method you chose to do so.

You asked if a Coke Zero, which has zero calories, would be breaking your fast. Of course, the answer is "no" because it has no calories. The caveat is if you're fasting for religious or spiritual reasons. Then, the answer may be different.

I’ve read that any kind of sugar or sugar substitute can spoke insulin or something and hurt your fast. Why I’ve always stuck to black coffee

Sugar can. With respect to sugar substitutes, I've read conflicting studies. Personally, I think sugar substitutes generally aren't good, but I look at cutting those out as a higher level health thing, if that makes sense. For most people out there who are just looking to drop weight, I think they can be useful as a calorie cutting tool.

and none of that has to do with losing bodyfat.

losing bodyfat is about caloric deficit and then enough protein to maintain muscle. nothing else matters until you are below a true 10%

Well by reducing calories and doing mostly protein your Insulin response is going to be greatly reduced.
