I read somewhere that Martin was wrong on BCAAs and they break a fast. Ive been waiting until I eat to take my BCAAs just to be on the safe side
Well martin considers eating more than 30 cals in a 2 or 3 hour period to be breaking the fast. Most BCAA products are below that but they are certainly pushing it. Martin also said that he felt the addition blunted fat loss and was not needed and he mainly just recommended them to get people to shut up about losing muscle and not taking advantage of the post workout nutrition window.
Imo they offer very little other than a little more musclar endurance when used intra workout. If you are looking for fat loss and workout in the morning leave them out.
If you are looking to recomp/gain well adjust your eating window around the workout to take advantage of the carb back loading.

I'm going to read this whole thread later on though. My friend was telling me he's trying this out recently.

I will post john ramaniolla's alcohol guide later but it too is linked in the folder that is in the op.
Every single thing you would want to read is in the links in the op. All books on the different IF protocols discussed and all the workout books discussed.

I'm gonna give it a go.
Tomorrow is a rest day for me, so cardio should be after the fast, and minimal intensity?

Sigh....whats your goal and what weight lifting program are you using right now? Lmk and i will lay it out exactly for you.
I promise though you would learn so much more by taking a few days to read my post and the stuff i linked. Its pretty much everything you will ever need ti stay in great shape the rest of your life and not have to soend hours upon hours in the gym everyday nor have to become ocd about eating a thousand times a day.

I was 190 twenty years ago this August 8th coming out of Marine boot.
Trying to get to 200-205.
Doing Wendler 5-3-1
I will read the links. I'm gonna need some quiet though, which isn't right this minute.
Thanks lsu777.

Why do you have IF everywhere, it should be it.
Posted on 3/8/16 at 5:39 pm to lsu777
Quality post that should be a sticky on the future Fitness Board.
What are your thoughts on IF only on rest days? Deadlifts with no food for hours is a mental barrier for me.

Thanks for putting all this together.
I've done stretches of IF for a few days here and there-- maybe limiting my eating to a small window for the day or skipping a day outright. I generally feel better for it, but haven't systematically tried to stick to a particular method.
I'll add one article... it's not so much for you, as the info you've posted is way more in-depth. This is more of a summary of potential benefits article for one or two people I saw asking for cliff notes of why to do it.
LINK
The article is written by kind of an organic health guru type and is intended to back up this guy's healthy living agenda more than it is a balanced academic presentation. Still, it does overlap a bit with where I see you coming from (despite it's emphasis on brain function). Specifically, it has a nice summary of how fasting possibly influences the balance between insulin and HGH in the body, and induces anti-inflammatory effects, both of which are relevant to training & lifting.

For fricks sake will it ever happen? This thread is a perfect example of why we need one.

That all depends on you. If you are trying to cut i would say no, if you are trying to recomp/bulk well then adjust your eating window to be your big meal eight after you workout and then a smaller meal or two within the eight hour window.
There is nothing that says the 8 hour window has to be in the afternoon, its just most people work and like to eat lunch and then dinner with family. Thats the schedule that works best for those people.
By all means put the 8 hour window where it makes sense for you.
The beauty of IF is its flexibility.

Thanks a lot for your time and effort on this LSU777. Very much appreciated. I will start tomorrow.
I lift MWF mornings starting at 6:00. Gonna be a bitch to not eat till noon those days. I'm trying to lose fat and like eating with my family in the evening.

Yeah, all the broscientists want ya to have a protein supplement or meal right after lifting.
It's hard to break that habit, or train of thought.
Not impossibl, just not something that feels right. But, I understand the science.
Well, I've had it explained to me by a chick that lives here and reads science good.

Ok ill put in everything in the calculators tomorrow when i get to work and pist the break down for you. Last question is what kind of lifestyle so you live? Are you sedetary all day at your job or do you spend all day walking around, or do labor etc etc
Posted on 3/8/16 at 6:51 pm to lsu777
I'm active all day, but not manual labor.
I've been following a keto diet for 6 weeks and have gone from 233-219 lbs.
I worked out and swam for 4 months prior to starting Wendler, and 5ish from starting keto.
Thanks. You're the man.

Its a bitch the first few days, not going to lie. But after a few days you get used to it.
Honestly hours 14 and 15 are hard, after that its easy. If i can make 16 i can make 36 no problem.
As far as not eating right after, you do miss out on some nutrition partitioning effects, but the overall fat burning benifits out weighs this. Now if doing a recomp i would say to move your eating window to take advantage of those effects.
Guys i will answer every question just gove me a while.
