Just doing pull ups and push-ups

How far will doing only pull-ups and push ups get someone? Assuming they’re done every day routinely

Are far in terms of what? Physique wise, depends on experience level and diet
But I would add rows of some form, dips and unilateral leg exercises for sure.
Get a set of rings and a weighted vest and you can get as far as you want physique wise to an extent. Not gonna be a bodybuilder but can look damn good and be really strong relative to body weight

Mainly for building lean muscle. Not bulking up
Basically just curious if push ups, pull ups, and ab work will get me in good shape

Building lean muscle is bulking up and it’s not easy. Will you build muscle with push-ups and pull ups…yes some but after 6-8 weeks will need to add some form of progressive overload
And building muscle is as easy as …hey I want to build lean muscle, I’ll do some push-ups and pull ups…doesn’t work like that
Get your diet in order and get below 15% body fat while doing those and then you can see where you want to go
Sounds like you just wanna be lean AF and yes you can get lean af with just those but you are asking for injuries long term from using same patterns over and over without any prehab work and no horizontal pull work. Plus you have no leg work
If you want to do body weight right, look at recommend routine on Reddit r/bodyweight

This. If you only do pull-ups (or too many pull-ups) you’ll have a disproportionately weak mid back and likely develop shoulder issues. Ring Rows ftw.

My buddy did this and got in great shape…

Tee Major Fitness used to have a pretty good body weight only routine. I used it a couple times while working through injuries.
You’ll see results as long as your diet is solid but you’ll plateau pretty quickly and won’t see much progression beyond that.

I mean, I get it. You want a simple bodyweight program.
1. You're always going to be able to do more pushups than pullups, probably way, way more.
2. You're not doing anything for your lower body - the muscles that actually do most of the work your body does - quads, glutes, hamstrings
Your simplified bodyweight program should start with squats. Work on form over the count. Build up to 10, do sets of 10. Do a hundred or more a couple of times a week. If you want to pullups and pushups, too, that's fine. But start with the foundation. Lower extremity strength and core. Then expand.

You can get ripped doing just body weight. Look up calisthenics workouts.
There’s a guy who goes to Jiu jitsu with me who does 500 sit-ups, 100 pull-ups and 100 push-ups a day. He is lean (from his diet) and shredded.
It’s a good way to go for general fitness. You just can’t train near maximum weight. So in that way you limit your strength gains.

Well, pull-ups and push-ups are actually an umbrella. They each have more advanced variations. Archer push-ups, one armed pushups, handstand push-ups. Same goes for pull-ups

Don’t really get the sit-ups but 100 pull-ups and 100 push-ups a day really isn’t much

I need a new weighted vest. Don’t want to spend $300 on one tho . Got any decent recs?

I have a Tribe Wod, there's no real noticeable difference between it and the 5.11. The Tribe Wod is $89 for the vest and a pair of weights is only $55. The whole rig is less than just a 5.11 vest

That sounds perfect thank you

I don't know how many sets and how he is spacing them. But 100 pull ups in a workout is pretty impressive..

You would have a rock climber physique at best.
