Thx for sharing. I’ve got a 3 hour drive in the am. I’ll check it out!

I've been making it a point to start making my own food instead of buying processed. Recently I've made my own ketchup, fries, stocks, roasted coffee, ect. Now that I bought a house, I'm hoping to start growing my own veggies. The tough part is meat and fish, I'm not sure how much local butchers are better than the big box stores and it's extremely difficult to justify 150% more on meat expenses. I would like to get to the point where I'm buying quarter cows, but space becomes an issue

I lost 50 pounds in 2023 after a severe back injury. Due to the injury I wasnt able to work out basically at all. What did I do? Kept daily carbs under 50g. Thats it.

Some of Y’all worry about the dumbest things. About 75% of the country is atleast 25lbs overweight, has low muscle mass and can’t do a single chin up and y’all are worried about seed oils?? Feel like Allen iverson…seed oils? We talking about seed oils? Come on man!!
Its a big deal. Your food affects hormones, fertility, your immune system. Your health costs and taxes are higher because your neighbor requires so much healthcare

My boss was bitching because our healthcare auto enrolled him into a diabetes program this year and his medication for blood pressure increased but he got a constant blood glucose monitor for free.
I about laughed because he has type ii and I’m thinking, “that shite is controllable through food, and I am desperate for a cgm just because I’m a dork”
Americans are over medicated when food could solve about 85% of the issues. I now want to concentrate on growing good food and for people to understand that relationship.

Sure. And msg is awesome. But I don't see the harm in swapping seed oils for something like avocado oil if you're hitting your macros. It's an easy swap that doesn't require you to obsess over all of the less important details.

For many, maybe even most, it's simply about the immediate cost in front of them when buying the groceries. Avocado oil is expensive, canola is cheap. You can argue about the long term effects til you're blue in the face, but much of the population either can't afford to or won't look past that sticker shock.
All sources of fat in my house are avocado oil, olive oil, grass-fed butter, nuts, hemp seeds, chia seeds, or animal fats from meats im eating, and i think the seed oil scare is overblown... but I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford that. Growing up I was poor as shite and we only bought what was absolutely cheapest in a given moment because we were already having to consider whether we let the cable or the phone get cut off to pay electric bill and get food.

I linked this study earlier - I don't see it mentioned in your video.

So I watched a few videos by that guy. He has a huge distended gut. Like worse than Dave Palumbo ever had. He’s not ‘healthy’ at all.

A bottle of oil used for cooking lasts a long time
Over the life span of a bottle of cooking oil you could certainly make up the cost differential in other areas

yea dr mike is really smart and knows his shite but he assumes every single person wants to look like a bodybuilder like him. imo his physique is the exact opposite of anything i would ever want. i like alot of his stuff but he also gets on my nerves where he just critisizes others programming because its not "perfect hypertrophy"

Not sure what he is doing but I saw videos of him with his shirt off and posing and his bubble gut would make peak Jean- Pierre Fux jealous. He's clearly a smart guy so not sure how he allowed that to happen. Yikes!

Yea imo he has become almost meme like. He is a smart guy but I have come to almost hate him as a person. He has become almost as bad as lyle McDonald.

I think bodybuilding is very cool and I admire those who do it. Its cool to see what the human body is capable of at its limits...but its not a look id ever want to strive for myself.

My life changed when I removed seed oils and added sugars from my diet last year.

What does removing seed oils do? Is it inflammation?
Posted on 1/25/24 at 12:31 pm to OysterPoBoy
From what I gather yes. When it gets down to it, pretty much all processed food items have processed seed oils. So I basically removed most / all of the processed food from my diet when I did that.
