I've always wanted to get a power rack. Right now I just have a couple of kettle bells, a backpack loaded with a bag of concrete, and a duffel filled with rocks.

Currently I have the flexibility to get to the gym, but down the road I'll need to bite the bullet.

Building mine might have saved my life literally. I was up to 245 lbs and just turned 30 and just couldn't find time to get to the gym with a new baby. Saved my marriage for sure as my wife hated me dumping the baby on her to goto the gym. And I was headed for 300lbs with the quickness.

I absolutely love my home gym and collecting equipment has become pretty much my only hobby outside of family stuff and fishing with my dad.

I forgot that I'm adding a GHD at the end of June to my home equipment.

Metairie CF is closing at the end of June and I bought their lone GHD for $100.

A friend dropped in MCF when he was in New Orleans and was on their email list.

Some time in May, they announced they were closing at the end of June and selling everything. Cash only. He was there the next day and got it for me. I tried to get some 35lb bumpers but they had already sold what they had. The first two weeks was members only. They pretty much sold everything except the floor mats within 3 weeks.

My guess is that they were about to go bankrupt and liquidated everything for cash so when the shite hit the fan, they had cash in hand and nothing for the lenders to repossess.

Thinking about updating my current home gym. I currently have a leg extension/leg curl bench, half rack and bench, Powerblocks, homemade lat pull down and cable crossover, ab coaster, spin cycle, dip bars and rower. I mainly do more of a body building workout. I was thinking about getting either a full rack or a combo machine like the powertec levergym or the body solid version.

Updated to add wider pic and view from other side of gym.

I'm going to need more photos than that to see how you got all that in there.

Yeah it's a little cramped right now. My room is 20'x10'. I had half gym equipment and half tools. It's about 70% gym equipment now. It's got a set of French doors so that makes moving everything in and out easy.

Do not get the leverage machine. Get a full cage. Get a commercial quality cage and adjustable bench. With that and the rest of your equipment, you can do a great workout.

A quality home gym is centered around a nice power cage and adjustable bench. Next would be dumbbells then functional trainer then you can get into cable machines like lat pull down/low row then something like the sorinex hurricane.

A simple gym with the following will allow you to do more than enough to do any type of program and fits in a very small room:
Power cage
Adjustable bench
Gymnastic rings
Adjustable dumbbells(power lock or iron master)
Functional trainer
Lat pulldown/low row combo
Hurricane

Then you just start buying speciality bars.

Thanks for the advice! That's what I was thinking I needed to upgrade first. I have Powerblocks so I'm set there. I updated my pics above. I built a plyo box and got an airbike off Craigslist last week.

Does anyone have any experience with Titan's power racks? They are a Rogue clone and get a lot of love on the Reddit home gym forum. They're on sale right now. I was looking at the T-3 or T-6.

777 will poo poo on them but I think they are fine. There are a couple of videos comparing the t3 and rogue r3. The r3 wins every time but it's on the powder coat finish and warranty. If you don't care about the finish that much, the t3 is a good deal. I don't see power racks failing too much to worry about the warranty. I've dealt with Titans customer service and they are very easy to deal with.

I was going to do Titan until I got a hell of a deal on a rogue rack.

I actually prefer the design of the pull up bars in the t3. I dunno how the hell you would have room for a t6 though. The t3 will need to be bolted down as well as the rogue rack.

Also take a look at the X3.

I actually think titan is blowing a great chance at cornering the home market when it comes to power racks and ghds. Their bars suck though imo.

As far as their power rack goes, so long as you your expectations are not pretty welds and a perfect finish on the powder coat, it's fine. They have great customer service but their qc and shipping leave a lot to be desired. They are getting better on shipping though after the 1 round of Ghds was a disaster.

Get the t6 imo. It's perfect for a home gym imo. Keep an eye on craigslist too though for a used commercial rack.

Reps fitness has good plates and bench.

When I got my shipment of stuff like the rack and bench, it was in great shape on shipping. Was in nice boxes with reinforcement and on a pallet. The adjustable dumbbells were an entire different story. Missing plates, box turn to shreds. They made it right and refunded my entire order no problem.

Yea they are getting better and getting close to having the shipping down pat. If they could get the qc in order in their chinease factory they would kill it. Titans new monolift attachment should be great with some refinement on future runs, same with the god.

Reps fitness has done a good job of getting qc up to par while using a chinease manufacturer and keeping prices low. Their plates are awesome and so is their stainless bar.
