Is this a Crossfit safe board or will we get shite on like the OT? I know it's not for everyone but it benefits a ton of people.

Post away about it. It's very effective and beneficial if the coaches are degree holders and experienced competitors.

Wish I could afford it. I would definitely give it a try.

Until then I guess I have to stick with my inexpensive power lifting gym and modified "crossfit" workouts at my buddy's house.

It's definitely more expensive than a membership at a typical gym but cheaper than hiring a personal trainer. I love the class atmosphere. It helps with the personal accountability.

You are exactly right. Many of the workouts can be done with relatively little equipment. The hardest workouts seem to be body weight workouts.

I will not shite on it and I hope other don't as well. The problem I have with it is improper coaching and allowing students to do the WOD's based on time and that just leads to unsafe practices.

Kipping looks dumb too.

I agree. We are lucky to have a couple of really good ones. It is unfortunate that a short course and $1200 will get you a certificate to coach.

That's it? I would hope they would have made it more rigorous.

This is straight from their website. And it's $1,000 to $1,200 depending on when you register.

To receive a Level 1 Trainer Certificate, one must:

Be at least 18 years old at the time of the test.
Be in good standing with CrossFit Inc.
Attend the entire two-day course (approximately 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days), to include:
100 percent exposure to all lectures.
100 percent participation in all practical break-out sessions.
100 percent participation in all workouts (all workouts can and will be scaled appropriately for individuals with special needs).
Pass the Level 1 test in person.
If you do not meet these requirements, you are issued a Certificate of Attendance.

I was going to say save the CrossFit bashing for the OT and let the H&F board be a safe space for those people, but I say we play it by ear and see how it goes.

Fwiw I won't bash CrossFit till I start drinking tomorrow night.

That's why if I had at it I would want a guy who has a degree in ex phys. Someone that truly understands the energy systems and applies that to programming. Some one who has competed in oly lifts, someone who has competed in crossfit and made at least regionals. If I'm shelling out that kind of bread, it better be the best quality.

Let this be a safe place for CF. I have a lot of problems with the current model due to bad programming and coaching and especially diet advice but its very effective and has done a ton for fitness in general.

I think it pisses me off due to the hypocrits claiming bodybuilding is vain while they run around in knee high socks, sports bras, and booty cutter shorts.

That's one of the main reasons I attend daily.

Oh yea I like it, but don't call a guy vain for wanting big arms and wanting to do some curls is kind of my point.

Same. And, I like competing against myself.

I have not. I have done them elevated, though, and that was awful. I feel like if you're tall you are at such a disadvantage for this. Wall balls are cake for me, but stuff like this whips my arse. Perfect height for crossfit is probably 5'10
