Played the New City Park course for the first time today

First off I want to say the course is very nice. Having said that I feel this course will go the way of other things New Orleans and become a failure. The management is a joke. The people that play there have no respect for golf. I Needed three carts, the first one gave out on the 6th hole the next one gave out on about the 14th. Every green looks like the surface of the Moon due to retards not fixing their ball marks. A few players even thought it would be a good idea to moonwalk on the greens. So let's face it, New Orleans is just filled with too many dumb asses to have a nice course but it was a good attempt.

You are describing almost every course in South Louisiana. People drive up to greens, don't fix fairways or greens when they damage them playing, litter, don't follow 90 degree or no cart path rules, etc.
You see it also when you hunt and fish here...litter everywhere, not following limits, etc.

And people really think the tournament will move there.

That is really a shame to hear.
It is the fault of management that tolerates this type of behavior from the employees as well as the patrons.
Respect for the game is slowly going by the wayside just to turn over as many rounds as possible per day to generate revenue.

Well before it opened I figured a Rese Jones designed course would meet tour standards. But based on what I'm hearing I guess not.

Can't believe they hired that witch from Audubon. That might have been their first mistake. Nothing like starting your day with her scowling face.

Played it last Monday and didn't see that at all. The cart thing would piss me off for sure.

TPC and English Turn keeps things in really nice shape. City Park/Lakeview are a joke and have always been a joke.

What does anyone expect from N. O., it is a shithole in many respects. Stupid keep electing assholes in public office, every thing I'd like a thief world state.

Played English turn a few months back, it has gone way down. Lakewood is in better shape

I've played it 3 times now, the most recent being yesterday. I agree with your sentiments about people not taking care of the course. Spike marks and fresh, unrepaired ball marks were on every green. I'll disagree about the service though. Needing 3 carts to get through a round is inexcusable; however, I'd bet you were the exception, not the rule. Each time I've been there, someone has been at the bag drop, taken my clubs and placed them on the cart, and the cart was waiting right outside the door of the pro shop after I checked in.
My concern is that there really doesn't seem to have been a lot of play out there. I'm sure that's because of the price point being too high for the general golfing public, and maybe that's best. I just worry that play might be a little light out there to sustain the condition of the course, and if the condition worsens, that would be disastrous for that course.
I think they did a good job with the design. It is a good test that really any level of golfer can play. It isn't overly difficult, but you have to play really well to score well. I don't think it's PGA Tour ready in it's current state, but it also doesn't need to be right now even if the long term goal is to move the Zurich Classic there. I don't think that can happen before 2020 or 2021 anyway due to the current contract. They will need to spend a good bit of money to make that course ready for a PGA Tour event, IMO.

I agree. The course has tremendous potential. The greens will settle I guess and start breaking like they should. There is a lot of wasted space it seems but who wants people playing into each other the whole round.
As far as the Zurich Classic. If English Turn got their act together and got the course back to 1990's condition it's still the best course suited for a PGA event in the area.

I'm glad I played it the weekend it opened, I figured it would go down hill, I had also hoped for Jones to put more of the hazards in play besides bunkers, but with limited space to work with I guess he did what he could. Clubhouse and conditions was decent and I'm sure it's hell from the tips on a windy day but I didn't find it as difficult as TPC or ET imo.

How in the frick are there ball marks. Guess the rain softened it up a bit

We made plenty of divots opening weekend, the greens just haven't settled enough to break much at all when putting, but they were soft and hold. It's the idiots who don't fix them and the greens turn into dart boards and have dead divot marks all over them.
