IYO, what's the most important part of a golf course?

The greens?
The layout?
The clubhouse + pro shop (bar/grill/merch)?
The practice area (range/putting/chipping)?
The people?
Pace of play?
Price?
Location?
Cart girl?

I guess we could rate them from most to least important.

I just like it to feel like a country club.

If the facilities are weak, I don't care how great the course is.

Greens
Layout
Rest of course quality
Starter/Pace of Play
Location/Price

Practice area quality is kind of down list. If I can warm up that is all I really need.

Way down list is clubhouse/pro shop. I would play augusta if it had a single wide trailer as the pro shop/grill.

Don't care about the cart girls

The others don't matter unless you join the club and then practice area is second.

Added pace of play and price to the list. Good call on those.

When I'm traveling and looking at reviews, I'm absolutely looking for info on the quality of the greens and even the pace of play. I don't pay much attention to the pro shop but I check that there's a place to warm up. I like having a range. I don't care much about the layout in general when I'm on the road but it's important for the courses that I play often.

If only a site had reviews with all that info in it. Hmmmm

When I'm traveling and play, I call to make the tee time and I'll ask about when the greens have been punched. Other than that, most recent reviews let you know about the greens condition in general. And it's easy to see if a place has a range.

Ranking them for me in this order

Pace of play
Greens
layout
practice area
People
Clubhouse post round
price
location
cart girl

I have a hard time keeping a rhythm if the pace is too slow.

I enjoy having a meal or drinks afterwards to BS and complete my day.

If I know that they do or do not have a beverage cart at least I can plan between the front/back.

Yeah, I said I don't care about the cart girls but want to clarify, I need access to some beers. I can easily plan each nine to have adequate beers without a cart girl.

The greens...even a short shitty muni can be fun with nice, true rolling greens.

1. Layout
2. Greens
3. Pace of play

Probably an afterthought for most people, but have you ever played from seriously uneven tees? Links on the Bayou has two that drive me insane. Par 3s, and no way to get a level lie. PISSES ME RIGHT OFF!

Bayou Country Club has some awesome turtle-backed tee boxes. You'd love it.

For me it's

Clubhouse w/bar & grill after round

This throws me off more than anything else.

Layout, greens, people/pace of play.

I prefer to be relaxed, when I have someone breathing down my neck on the first hole I may never shake it off.

I just need the greens to be smooth and somewhat true. They don't need to be fancy. I don't want to add strokes every hole because greens are garbage and won't roll

Greens. If the greens are shite, the round is going to be too.
