I really hate the fact that Tiger is not playing! When Tiger was in contention it was must see TV. He should be remembered as the most most compelling athlete in history. What separates the best golfers ever is the ability to make crucial putts when they absolutely had to be made. Jack and Tiger had that ability and it appears that Speith has that clutch ability also; time will tell with Jordan. I rank them as 1 and 1A....Jack first.

Greatest of all time I think, but not indisputably above jack. I think his combo of wgc, majors, and other PGA/European/Asian wins makes up for a few majors.
But they're the only two you can legitimately say that about. He's either one or two and so is jack.
We will be a lot kinder to tiger than he probably will himself. I just want to see him happy doing whatever, but I think he's been miserable since his father died.

I think Tiger is the greatest golfer of all time. I know you can't compare eras, but if you give Tiger and Jack the same equipment in their prime I think Tiger wins for a few reasons.
1. One of the greatest assets for both was their intimidation factor. Neither would be scared of each other.
2. Tiger crushed everybody. He never lost leads. Literally never for years. He was the best driver, scrambler, and putter on tour.
3. The tour had way, way more depth in Tigers day than Jack's. Jack played with many of the games greats, but there wasn't more than 10 guys that could win tournaments then where as today almost everyone in the field has a legit chance at winning.
Admittedly Tiger is during my time so I didn't get to watch Jack play. I just don't know how anybody could ever beat Tiger when he was on top of his game during the early 2000s. What he did was just unreal.
On a side note, if it's not for Tiger, Phil is maybe a top 3 player all time. He has 40 something wins anyway. If he could have played without Tiger in the field I think he would have 75+ wins and close to Jack in majors, 10+ easily.

Those who underrate Phil miss just how deep his major resume is. Only Javk has more 2nds. Only Jack and Tiger have more total top 3s

A golfer who could have been the GOAT.
He was in superb condition but his violent swing finally got the better of him.

he will be remembered as the #1 or #2 greatest golfer of all time ... not 'one of the greatest' ...

I also think he will have sort of a tragic "what if" thing hanging over his legacy.
Tiger will go down as #2 all-time.

Agree. Thats my perspective as well. I like the 1 and 1A comparison.

his combo of wgc,
#1. Tiger - 18 wins
#2. DJ - 5 wins
#3. Ogilvy - 3 wins
Day, Mahan, Rory and Mickelson...2 wins ea.

Disagree. But his WGC stats may be one of his most underrated stats.

A child prodigy.
A great champion.
A sex addict.
A player who had it all and lost it in the blink of an eye.
One of the best mugshots since Gary Bussey
