Halo lan parties will never be duplicated. Crazy hours of fun. We would occasionally get on Gamespy and play some CE online, which was always a tricky setup, especially if the host was so far away.

I was in college when this was all the rage. We would have wires spread from one end of the house to the other with our old arse tube TVs and Xboxs everywhere. We would leave it up for weeks at a time and just play every chance we got. If you did it correctly the two teams had to be in separate rooms. Good times.

Our dorm was all one giant network, so we could plug into the lan in our dorm and system link in Halo 1 with anyone else in the entire building.
It made for some pretty awesome competition between floors.

warcraft 2 really started me in online gaming (AOL warcraft 2 servers, frick yea)...
Everquest is the game I consider the downfall of my mid to late teens Hell, I still go randomly play EQ on emulated servers just for the nostalgia of it, about once ever 2 years or so for a few months.

LAN parties pretty much ended with Halo 2. At least for me. XBL was in full force so there wasn't a need to drag your stuff to someone's house.
