Is it just DirectX 12 support? I've seen games like ARK say 10 will bring SLI (dual vid card) support. Anything else to get excited for? I decided to pre order a discounted genuine copy of 10 pro from Newegg to replace my bootleg copy of 7.

A lot, it appears. Major advancement.

I did the API test last week:

Awesome. So should I do a full wipe on my ssd or use the "upgrade to a new version" option when I get the disks.

I'm planning to clone my current Win 8.1 disk, then upgrade to Win 10. I will then wait for more data regarding performance in upgrades vs. clean installs. I tend to prefer clean installs over upgrades, but clean installs are very time-consuming for me and not something I am willing to do without absolute cause. Many programs and settings to restore.

I have read good things about Win 10 on reddit. Have any of y'all got to use it yet?

I'm pissed. I am a Xbox preview member, so I have access to streaming games from my One but I don't have Win 10 yet to try it.

I've been using is since about December, and updated to the final preview build a week or two ago when it came out, love it. Really like 8.1, and it puts it to shame for me. They did well with it, should make most happy.

Well if they did, Windows 10 would make it better

So you've compared the performance of a Windows 10 upgrade and a Windows 10 clean install?

No I have not. I don't feel any need at all to do a clean install. My PC is blazing fast. Probably won't do a clean install until I do a major upgrade,

I don't have much on my pc right now since it's relatively new. But enough to not make me want to clean install lol

I didn't know it would upgrade. I figured it would have to be clean

It means I will not upgrade until compatibility issues are ironed out.

If you're coming from Windows 7 bios to a UEFI boot, then chances are a clean install will be required. If you're coming from Windows 8/8.1 then an upgrade will probably be just fine.

We just got a bunch of new machines at work that came with windows 7 and our boss wants them all to have 8.1, so I've had to make changes to all the hard drives and boot processes in order to install 8.1 as there was no option to simply upgrade it.

I think this is probably best practice - Windows 10 was designed from the ground up to be upgraded from 8 - many of the problems with the migration from 7 to 8 were, anecdotally, were upgraders.

I never "upgraded" from 8 and it never affected my life or functionality. I'm doing a new build when Skylake drops and, without hesitation, I will skip 8 in favor of 10.

I always wait for the first SP before switching to a new Windows OS. It will be nice if that's not necessary this time but I've been burned too many times by installing a new OS as soon as it hits (I'm looking at you, Vista... and XP... and ME... and 98).

Hopefully it will stop my screen resolution from changing every 5-7 logins, and hopefully stop Google Chrome and Windows from freezing up for a 1-2 mins every now and then.
