Out of shear boredom I will try and make an argument.

As for link(or Samus), I don't think it would actually be noticeable if they did a gender swap. Until I hit my teens, I thought link was a girl because of the name of the series (legend of Zelda) and Samus was a guy because she never took off the helmet. In the games at least, both don't have much of a personality.

The GF spent time at a music school in Japan to create vidya game music. She plans on taking me soon and I can't wait to experience a culture outside of the current America.

OK, a spinoff type game maybe where you play as Zelda would be fine and I'm sure it would be a decent game.

But there comes a point where people complain because they can. This is it.

Did she learn Japanese?

Tried hard.. but gave it up. Have Levels 1 and 2 of Pimsleur on Audible. Learned a few words and phrases. Hard to pick up when you can't practice it with someone. Once the project was done my access to a Japanese person ended. Guess I could have kidnapped one of them. They are tiny, could live in a coat closet Harry Potter style.

I would like 1 story but different PoVs like with Half-Life and Opposing Force/Blue Shift/Decay.

Wouldn't exactly be like those since in those games you are 4 different groups with 4 different goals never truly coming into contact with each other.

I kept all the gifts from them. They would do 3months here and 2 weeks back home. Everyone of their project team or engineers would bring gifts back. I bet they are the stupidest thing to them and cheap but are much better than American knick-knacks.
