I have no issue with link not being female or the possibility of it but they did give a lame excuse. As soon as I saw the quote I knew where it was heading

Per our discussion yesterday, I think the obvious best answer would have been "we know this character has been voiceless, but Link is still a real character and is always a key part of the story. To make Link either/or would be taking an iconic video game figure and making him just a vessel."
But like we said, they've never really fleshed out the romantic angle between Link and Zelda other than hints and assumptions, so to worry that your game "might become gay" is a weak premise to hide behind if that's the case.

Very often I pick a female character if given the option (they are better to look at). While I don't care about this Link thing as far as the game goes, the pressure tactics to change someone else's artistic vision to make a cultural point is disturbing. The point of these games are to live the story that someone else spent years of their life thinking up and designing.

I still don't get the need to constantly appropriate history/objects/arts etc. like this. Do they really understand what they are asking.
Not only that Zelda has always been a huge part of the story, and not always in peril. See Shiek.

The problem is that they keep getting small (and some big) wins which make them move on to the next topic to fight about. That is why they have gotten this far. Creep.
