I am just not in the boat of spending $250+ on a video card and personally would allocate funds differently.
What other parts would you allocate the funds?

You could RAID your OS and/or data drive, get a second monitor, do liquid cooling, or put it back in your pocket
I like the build you suggested for him, as said previously I'm not in the video card splooging camp.

I built my PC to try something new (been on xbox for years). I wanted my games to run as smooth as possible on its best graphical settings. Very few cards can run the games I play at max settings with good fps.

yes those are viable options of other things to do with 100 plus dollars but for those who primarily play games on their systems, the gpu is the best way to assure that the system will do what you most desire it to do for the longest time. Don't get me wrong if I were strapped for cash I wouldn't spend 400 dollars on a video card, but if I were broke I wouldn't be worried about raid, second monitors, or liquid cooling either. I would certainly not fool with liquid cooling unless I already had a beast card and cpu to cool to make that 300 dollar liquid cooling investment pay off.

With the OC, duh! I'm hoping to have my video card OC'd tomorrow. I was going to do it tonight but I got caught up playing civ5 again

600 ohms. I hav DAC with an amp to drive them. I mainly use them for music not gaming. I live them.
