DayZ was far better as a mod on ARMA. Of course all the modders want to do now is make money instead of producing good shite, so it would probably suck on 3 as well.

I have 70-ish hours in this now, and I can't put my finger on why exactly I like it so much, but I think it's mostly the lack of a team aspect outside of a squad of friends. I stopped playing Overwatch and CS because I'm so fricking tired of the community, but with PUBG I can easily tune everybody out. Hopefully it stays that way.
