GB posters -- I'm looking for helping building a desktop. I didn't want to start a new thread here since I just did on the Tech Board, but if you're interested / willing / able to help, check out the post here:

Not very. Haven't really paid much attention to it with headphones and portable AC unit running at the same time. Heat doesn't seem to be a limitation. For overclocking, I can tell the limit is going to be power draw. Uses 2 6-pin plugs, so 150w from 12v.

So I went with a Corsair 750D as an enclosure. At this point I'm a PSU and GFX card away from a completely new build. Funny what happens when you try to replace one part.

...new GFX card in January. If I can wait that long.

Why January? Is that when 980 Ti arrives?

I don't like to wait. I'm annoyed that I have to wait for my second 980 and my blocks.

Sweet. I've thought about buying a 2nd larger SSD, I have a 180GB Intel one now but have thought about grabbing one of those Crucial refurbished as a 2nd SSD 512GB for 169.99 is tough to pass up or just the 256GB one for 84.99.

I'm down to just about 40GB left of my 180 already and that's with any media stored on my 1TB drive.

I have a 256gb 840 pro as my boot/app drive and 128gb 840 pro and 128gb sandisk extreme in raid 0 for games. I'm going to through those hyperX in raid 0 and use them for media.

I ain't got no time for mechanical HDDs

Used? That doesn't seem like a good deal really.

Those SSDs can be found for $45'ish new. So you're basically getting a $120 case for $60?

Meh...

So I'm about to connect my SATA cables and call this build complete, but I've got one issue to resolve first. The H110 has two fans you mount above the radiator. The Corsair 750D enclosure I purchased has two front fans and a rear fan. That's a total of 5, which matches the amount of SYSFAN headers on my mobo. But then there's this headscratcher that I have no idea where to connect. Any ideas?

It's a 3 pin, and as you can see it's connected directly to where the cooler meets the CPU. Something tells me it's a bad idea to leave it disconnected

Can I plug it into one of the other 3 pin headers I see around the middle of the board?

TIA

That powers the pump. needs to go into a sysfan header. And I would assume the corsair fans are 4-pin PWM, right? Those should go into your 4-pin CPU fan headers.

The Corsair fans are 4 pin, I have them plugged in to the appropriate CPU fan headers.

I've just run into the problem of having 3 case fans plus the pump, and only 3 system fan headers. Thinking maybe I should unplug one of the front intake fans?

Get a splitter if you need to, or a 3-pin to molex adapter, or a fan controller. But for now, the pump definitely needs power, so if you're out of headers, unplug SYSFAN1 and put the pump on that one.

Please show me. I've never seen them lower than $75, and they're one of the top sandforce drives on the market.

Molex adapter. Duh. I should have thought of that. Fired it up and it all worked fine. Score.

How is Windows 8.1? Worth going to? Because I know Windows 7 is easily acquired...
