What will 1440p do to my GPU temps?

Mine will BSOD if it gets to 72-75. It stays at 60 now but BF3 can push it some at 1080. I am going to RMA it soon but need to get a back up card to use or wait until that 660Ti comes back from RMA. I sold that 660 and am giving my 7870 to my nephew.

When you swipe out cards, aside from physically swapping them out, do you just uninstall old drivers and reinstall then new? Is there anything else involved or does your pc just recognize it?

I use that driver software on Steam on top of a few other things to make sure all the old drivers are gone before installing the new drivers.

Does the glossy display handle light just like plasma and an ipad? If so they I will go with that when the time comes. I have a matte screen monitor now and it isn't terrible but light distorts the picture regardless. Best way to game is with the lights off.

Any chance you have that list saved that you made me? I'm getting a 404 error now.

Better, I'd say. My PC is in the master bedroom, and the overhead lights are right behind me. I usually work with the lights on every day and I've had no problems. I keep the backlight at a pretty high level, as you really should with an IPS to get the full beauty of it (understanding that backlight and software-adjusted brightness are not the same thing) I also have an LED TV in the bedroom now, and it's much more reflective, as is my iPad.

Geez that is cheap.

ETA and you can get it for $15 cheaper using Google Wallet. $205 for a new 7950.

I should buy it. For what I don't know but for that price it's sort of hard to pass on.

Then great. I will go glossy when the time comes. I find that interesting that you say you keep the brightness turned up. I have an IPS matte finish and I had to turn mine down a lot to get better colors and reduce the IPS glow.

Mines not all the way cranked up, maybe 75-80%.

Oh also, the 13.8 beta drivers are online, but AMD hasn't updated their page as of right now. But Guru3D is hosting them, and has a direct link to them on AMD: LINK

They are beta also for those who don't know. I am interested in the reviews. I fully expect pcper to follow up their big frame pacing series they did in april.

Do I need to buy a sound card?

Not unless you're doing studio-quality recordings and need a super-low latency solution, in which case you'll be buying much more than a sound card, and you'll probably be spending several hundred on the card.

Or you might benefit from a difference if you're a true audiophile. (I've never really liked that word). But since you're asking, you probably aren't. I'm not, either. I can tell you the difference between a pair of $10 headphones and $60 headphones, but beyond that it's wasted on me.

I use acoustica mixcraft whenever I practice and record with accompaniments (been playing trombone for about 17 years). I have not had any issues with today's onboard sound.

About 8-9 years ago, I did have a turtle beach santa cruz card, and it was a pretty decent bump in quality.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't need one to have sound for my games. I just ordered everything and I didn't want to miss anything.
