It'll launch non-steam games. Can't get it to launch steam games at all, even if I say "Hey Cortana, launch witcher3.exe." It's definitely a Steam problem more than a Windows problem. However they're installed, Windows doesn't seem to acknowledge them as applications, nor their shortcuts as shortcuts -- as in, I can't pin steam game shortcuts to the start menu. I have to go in the game's directory and create a shortcut of the game's exe and pin that instead.

Yes, Cortana can launch applications.

"Hey Cortana, launch League of Legends"...

Launches the game within seconds.

Same with pretty much any application, launch photoshop, launch paint, launch iTunes, etc...

It will launch GOG games, just tried it with Witcher 3. Time to convert.

Found this on Steam forums about to try it

quote:

Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Make a copy of the steam shortcut.
Rename steam shortcut to your game, (or what you want to say to launch it) ex: counter strike
Right click shortcut and edit the "Target" line, add -applaunch "STEAMAPPID" (no quotes) to the end of it. For example CSGO is 730 so the target line should look like this.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 730
Place this shortcut to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Ask cortana to open it and
...
PROFIT!

ETA: Boom there we go, works. Must reboot to take effect, did it with H1Z1 and launched it perfectly.

I'm using it all the time now. I hope it grows into a full OS assistant where you can ask it to do basically anything short of formatting itself.

"Hey Cortana, reboot in safe mode."

"Make a 500GB partition on my E drive."

"Make shortcuts of all of my Steam games and put them in a folder. Name the folder Steam Games and put it on my desktop."

"Track my CPU usage and temperature over the next two hours and create a line graph of the data."

Transcend 512 GB SSD for $139

I bought one of these a while back as a secondary drive to put games and such on. Very good deal.

I wonder if the price leaks today are legit, quite a bit cheaper than previous generations.

$313 would be great. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I'm sure Microcenter will still have some ridiculous deal.

I7 6700k for 15$ cheaper than i7 4790k?

I've been waiting for 4790k to drop below $300 again, should I just keep waiting or pick that 6700k up?

Pick up a 6700K new, or wait for the flood of eBay and r/hardwareswap listings for used 4790Ks.

6700K for sure at that price if you need an i7, I'm going 6600K though. All signs point to these things being phenomenal OCing chips.

I guess they just reveal them on the floor or something? I see no Intel conference listed or anything to watch which sucks.

Judging off info I have it looks like I will need a new Mobo and ram to go with the 6700k if I get it.

Yes, it's on the new LGA 1151 platform. Requires a new board, and DDR4 RAM.

Not released today, few sites like NewEgg have them up to preorder with release date of Aug 14th.

The boards are mostly out, got my MSI Gaming M7, will be here Monday. ETA: Shipped, also preordered the 6600K off Amazon a bit ago.

Does anyone want or need my 8320, Asus M5A99X Evo 2.0, 16GB 4x4 G Skill X 1866 before I eBay them?

I don't see the 6700k on Amazon and the boards look a little pricey. I did see one for $150 by Asus.

I am interested if the price for the 6700k is $315.
