You have to start considering what value you get out of an item for the price.
You have a finite amount of gold every game and delay/expedite powerspikes based off what you buy and when you buy it.
With Zhonyas, you are spending a lot of money just to turn gold for a few seconds. For a champ like Lucian, you have to ask yourself if it's worth it by asking "what stats do I get?" and "what am I NOT buying by purchasing this?"
For APs, the decision is a little easier. For an AD champion (and a ranged one at that), delaying a Triforce/IE/GhostBlade/BT/whatever in favor of hourglass will be inefficient the majority of the time.
Building inefficiently is one of the easiest, yet most subtle, ways to throw a game.
ADC #1 got early kills in lane and is up 1k on their opponent, ADC#2.
ADC #1 built a chainvest with their extra gold to help dominate their lane and decided to buy tear of the goddess and tier 2 boots.
ADC #2 bought BF sword with what money they have.
At Dragon, ADC #1 gets blown up by LeBlanc who doesn't give a single frick about their tear, chainvest, or berzerkers boots. ADC #2 does consistent DPS with BF sword and makes an impact on the fight.

I've streamlined my > "First 30 minutes" build - for the most part with Support and ADC I know what I'll have by the 30 minute mark (if the game makes it there)
Past the 30 minute mark however, things change a little depending on the situation, in this case the gnar was asking me to build the hourglass and he kept telling all of us "I'm a smurf" - so I trust him and went with it, no biggie, we still won.

interesting. I'll have to make a smurf and tell people to build stupid shite with that qualifier and see what I can get them to do

For supports your item build can be really flexible.
Vs a lot of AP build locket
Vs a lot of ad build frozen heart and randuins omen
Vs a lot of stuns and need mana regen..build crucible
Landing a lot of skillshots as an ap supp...build haunting guise
Playing a frontline tank supp...consider thornmail
Due to limited item income...rushing the best item for the current game is really important.

I mean, on one hand the type of person that would fall for it would be someone like me... but on the other hand, I am the way I am, because I've had you guys to critique my actions every single level so far. So it really only works one game

I just had one of those game where, even though we won, I was incredibly frustrated with my team. We had a 45 minute game that could have been ended in 25 had my team not been a bunch of indecisive pussies. We were much stronger than the other team, yet they insisted on running around doing nothing, while the other team was farming and slowly catching up when there was an open inhib sitting there for about 15 minutes. I was playing Ahri so it wasn't like I could just go run and take it myself

lately I've found myself not even enjoying the rare occurrences I actually win a game
might be why I'm doing so shitty lately, just not having fun with it
I made shaco rune/mastery pages and will likely start spamming him in ranked soon to make the game more fun.

Does anyone here play the fantasy LCS thing? Was thinking the TDGB could make a couple of groups for the summer split.

Ran into this in 2 out of my 3 games tonight.
We would group, win the team fight handily and take a tower or two.
Then for the rest of the game...nothing. I would initiate, we had the advantage, and everyone would just run screaming, then get picked off.

The * indicates that Drewbie knew about add/drops before anyone knew what was going on and proceeded to add just about every Fnatic player. Guarantee it won't be like that in the Summer Split.

Not saying it wasn't, but none of us knew really what was going on or if they had waivers etc. Free agency was a free for all and thus you grabbed a lot of the Fnatic players before anyone else, which led to you going undefeated.
Like I said, it won't happen in the summer split. I also won't draft Rekkles number one. Dude was a huge bust.
