fricking love this game.
I liked the story, but i am really enjoying just being a pirate and running around looting and pillaging.
I find the sea battle genuinely fun
Things they fixed from the last game, better gun play, you now have 2 sets of armor to collect, in AC3 you had 0. and the weapons are clearly better, and there is a reason to buy new ones.

really enjoying this game right now but wondering if anyone can give me a brief summary of wtf is going on outside of the animus (only AC game I have played is AC2)
all i have gathered thus far is that the guy from AC2 is now somehow dead. and now a shite ton of people can use the animus for entertainment/commercial purposes (I could be of base here. havent been paying much attention to the story)

well i am not extremely far at all, but it seems abstergo is now using the animus for entertainment purposes and now people can plug in and basically re-live these historical time periods.
The main character has been hired to come in and test these historical events and synchronize all of the sequences.
That is as far as I have gotten, but if I had to make a guess, I would assume that Abstergo is after something else and your character is going to figure this out. The entertainment aspect is just a front.

Abstergo has morphed from blatantly evil corporation to once which now has a viable "front". The entertainment section functions as the labs did in 1, so it looks much better having employees and not test subjects.

SPOILERS (I guess)
Largely a front for the more insidious motives -- they still use the Animus to acquire the pieces of Eden, and the entertainment division means they have multiple people working on different pieces at the same time as they "develop" more Animus experiences. This becomes apparent as they push the protagonist to discover more and more about the Observatory.
I finished the storyline and realized there was no way I could make myself do all the sailing it would take to get all the animus fragments/Mayan stones/chests/etc., so I gave up before even attempting to get it 100%

I've been grinding it out over the past three nights. Its not so bad if you have all the locations unlocked to fast travel. Just travel to a location sail to the chest or fragments swim to the little island and instead of getting back on your ship just fast travel to the next place. The worst part is collecting wood and metal to unlock the extra stuff for the jackdaw. I've 100 percented everything except the story missions which ill try and go back and do.
I am missing one treasure map though and I have collected them from the map locations. I'm thinking the last one you get from one of the ship convoy things. I'm waiting on the last one now. Anyone know anything about
this?
Also it doesn't seem to count toward completion or help you make money to buy the artwork so I don't understand the point.

A hint on the story side missions if you have one out of the two already accomplished and you go to replay you only need to get the other and it will still count
and for the wood and metal go to the south part of the map in the middle they should have 60-160 metal and wood each and if you beat all the legendary ships you get a charge attack to ram boats and that helps with sinking ships alot
does anybody know how to get the achievement to share discoveries with friends I need that and a couple multiplayer ones

That's awesome if you don't have to get both together. A lot of them in AC3 you had to do all of them at once to count.
I've collected all materials but saved the legendary ships for last unfortunately.
I think I got that achievement for spotting a white whale while sailing around. It automatically marks it on the map and shares it with friends. I've only spotted it once and have sailed all over the map a lot.
I'm not sure what other types of events there are. Maybe you have to spot one three times for the achievement

You can also spot royal convoys which carry 10k reales, they show up as blue so I guess they are community of online related.

I haven't seen any blue things do you have to have friends that play this game?
Posted on 12/19/13 at 11:39 pm to MLSter
sent...i think. maybe i just followed

I believe that may be the case. I've helped along a few of Corndogs trade missions and vice versa but I haven't seen the ability to help a random player.

can they help take down legendary ships? i tried attacking one last night... got wrecked (pun)
Posted on 12/20/13 at 11:09 am to Displaced
I dont think so. Two of them are not to bad. I had a lot of trouble with the fast one and the heavy armored one. What worked best for me was to try and stay right behind them chain shot and ram it over and over
Posted on 12/20/13 at 12:13 pm to Dr.Funke
which ones? i tried the one in the upper left and got rocked.
Posted on 12/20/13 at 3:05 pm to Dr.Funke
Haha that was my tactic for all of them but when you have to fight two get each low before you destroy one because the other will chase you down and ram you relentlessly

Got it for free along with a couple of other games when I picked up a new gpu so I will fire it up this weekend.
