original NES games were about 50 bucks, amazing how the price hasn't changed that much

By the time these were offered, there would be something new on the market to play, already incorporating these features. And if it's a feature that's available immediately, then why wasn't it included in the original game that i bought?

Again, you typically don't pay for stuff like that.

But to answer your original question, I absolutely will NOT pay for a patch if that's really what you're talking about.

Not really talking about DLC content. Maybe it would be tweaking a HUD layout to make it more streamlined. Maybe we're talking about tweaking graphics for better performance. Could be adding in some options for button mapping. I'm talking about small improvements, not major releases like a DLC.
No, I'm not paying for that. If your HUD is obtrusive, that's on the dev and they should be obligated to fix it.

I'm assuming you play computer talking about better graphics and button mapping. But this should be on them or enhanced by them and not have to be paid for.

Besides, aren't there mods out there that allow such things, more so on computers? Forgive me if that last question is dumb as I haven't played a computer game since the Commadore 64.

I guess it just depends on what the philosophy is on what we/you bought. Did we buy the game as it exist, or did we buy the game as we believe it SHOULD be.

I haven't had a gaming computer in years, just talking in generalities.

i bought it as it exist, with no bugs or glitches. If you were able to do something to streamline something later down the road due to some new technology or something gamebreaking, then that's DLC and i have a choice if i want to buy it or not

I believe most people expect those to be one in the same based on reviews and what not before release dates. It's the times in which we live. They have more access and resources to do this in house before release date.

I don't know if that's the question. This opens the can of worms about betas and makes me remember the MoH beta.

A lot of complaints about it were the graphics that popped on your screen when you got points. It was this red ribbon, it was kind of translucent, but it was obtrusive and players didn't like it. They eventually patched that out of the beta, showed something different, and that became the standard.

Now, betas are excellent ideas for fixing things like this, as far as presentation and party systems go.

well with the way games are released in series, the devs have it in their best interest to make the game right so that people will remember and be willing to buy the next installment

I agree and we all always purchase the next one expecting it to be better. That's still hit or miss at this point with some developers.

And how do games that are released in series, year after year, continue to have the same problems the first few weeks? How is this not clean on release? Is it always inevitable?

Depends on the problems...party and connection issues are server-related and can't be stress-tested until release.

Anything network-related is a roll of the dice IMO.

You'd be amazed and probably shocked how little the right hand talks with the left hand in regards to fixing common platform-wide issues.

The "devs" are working new shite by the time a games released, so the ones working the "fixes" are probably a whole new team of people. The devs probably never know what was wrong when it went live.
