You have the build up your bond with your horse to unlock things like pooping.

Really only complaint I have is that the horse riding is choppy (yes, I turned off the camera shake). The animation looks cartoonish. I'm savoring this game, so I've only done up to getting a weapon called honey bee. I've done a crapton of side ops. It's a little repetitive, but probably because that's all I've been doing. Great game all around and I am happy the days of watching mind-numbing codec screens are gone.

Damn, figures. Seems the bonding is just by riding that son of a bitch around the desert. I thought there was a button you could press to pat it down and show it some love.

Just finished the mission where you get the Honey Bee. Somehow managed to run away without having to use it.

Fired it up and made my appearance, then saw the nurse get wired. Turned it off and I'm going to Pint Night

I need some time to absorb the epicness

I said this in an earlier post but just wait until you see the "Fiery Chase". I couldn't stop laughing it was so ridiculous.

I dunno, the whole intro was very Kojima and epic and sucked me in. With MGS you kinda have to expect these things. Seeing Mantis and the Man on Fire wreck shite was pretty badass.

I'm not bashing, just think it's so outrageously over the top it's funny. I love the game and the cut scenes are epic.

I'm going back and replaying some of the missions now just to get all GMP available. Upgrading the Fulton to 24 and the binoculars were good upgrades.

Oh I agree for sure. The hospital intro was already dark as hell, then after seeing the MOF i'm like ok, shite is real. THEN Mantis is floating around on top of that, and you escape on horse from a man on fire riding a horse on fire. And that's in the first 30 minutes of the game

100% over the top and I love every second of it

Game is incredible though and the engine is so damn fluid. GOTY easy.

You will understand why its "over the top" at the end of the game. It will makes sense then.

The quarantine mission (Chapter 2) is very hard to watch. It's an easy mission, but makes you sick to your soul when you go through it.

Not spoiling it.

Oh, and Huey Emmerich is a retched excuse for a human being.

After seeing his depiction in this game, I'm glad he kills himself (codec conversation from MGS2)

Apparently the website I linked earlier changed the videos they were using.

This is the one I intended to link. Linked the first mission from YouTube, just view his account to see the rest.

Any pointers/tips would be appreciated. I've never played a Metal Gear Soilid game until a co-worker talked me into buying/playing this one.

The entire first hour of the game was weird and a chore to get through. Once I got into the open world, I started enjoying it more.

I'm not a huge MGS fan or stealth games in general, but Phantom Pain has peaked my interest. I've only beaten MGS2 and played a little bit of MGS3 but I decided to buy GZ to see if I would like PP. First run didn't go so great when I went from sneaking around to gunning down half the base with one of the AA guns in the span of about 15 seconds, shite escalated quickly. 2nd run was a lot better and I actually managed to evac the kid and girl without killing anyone. I may wait a little while to pick up PP but I definitely am gonna play through it at some point.

Ran into Quiet very unexpectedly last night while on my way to a side ops. All of that part is outstanding.

There are stealth games that I've enjoyed playing like Thief (underrated game), Dishonored, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Assassin's creed, but this game is just not doing it for me.

I'm 5 hours in and there's been virtually no story development thus far, and the missions all feel like they have nothing to do with one another. All those years in development and you have a game that's basically Snake a running around a barren desert taking random mission contracts. It is probably the best example I've ever seen of a game that hurt itself by going open world.

Snake feels stiff and the controls and mechanics feel overly convoluted and poorly explained. The tutorial taught me things like, "pres the action button to perform an action," but I had no idea how to change my weapon, or how to call my horse. I had no idea what resources were used for or why I needed them, and I hate the idea that virtually all pieces of equipment you'll find in the game sit behind what is basically an item shop that you pay for with money and resources you get from playing the game.
