It's hard period but trying for the stars, stamp and green flag is nightmarishly hard
In fact, this is the first Mario game in a long time to really offer a challenge. Once you get to the final worlds, shite is hard

bro you've obviously never played top gun because i'm 100% sure you could get the top pilots from the air force together and they still couldn't land that fricking plane on the ship

P.S: But seriously.. lots and lots of trial and error - it took me probably 3 weeks to 100% the game (other than a few stupid character stamps) - I even beat the level I posted above... talk about a pain in the rear

I'm not a novice I beat all 16 levels of 3dland with all stars and flags and died only 8 times. And like 5 of those were on one level

Its really not that hard. Refueling was more of a challenge but I could do that too.

The secret is to not worry too much about all the directions. Just make sure your speed and altitude are in the range it says.
