An entire page in and no one has made the retarded statement "Nintendo needs to go 3rd party" yet.

You'll see Miyamoto strip naked and streak down Bourbon Street wearing a sombrero before Nintendo goes 3rd party.

I think the WiiU was a failure, when they failed to realize what made the Wii so popular, wouldn't carry them into current gen

I think the NX will either be a huge success, or it'll be a flop, and they will have to completely change their strategy if it's the latter and keep going on.

Nintendo will probably still be around long after you and I are dead, I don't know if the same can be said for the Xbox

It it fails, they'll have to leave the console market most likely.

They'll turn into a 3rd party game producer.

Well, it'll happen eventually.

Miyamoto will likely have to actually commit seppuku himself, but it'll happen.

The WiiU flopped and NX already sounds bad. There is minimal hype there for the NX.

I don't see why people believe it to be an impossibility.

Nintendo is ran by a bunch of people who do not understand the home console market, and they haven't understood it since the SNES days.

The lack of a cd drive along with that awful controller made almost all third party games inferior. The GameCube had similar problems with those tiny disks that lacked the data storage capacity of DVDs and a controller that wasn't optimal for third party titles. The Wii wasn't even HD calable nor that much more powerful than the GameCube. Millions of people bought the Wii for Wii Sports and Netflix but after the shine wore off, it just collected dust. Third party support died after developers stopped porting games over to the ps2.

The Wii U started strong out of the gate with a surprising lineup of third party titles but once the next gen systems launched, it just became another Wii.

I am willing to give the benefit of a doubt over the NX though.

Well, I'll give them the Wii. They hit that niche at the right time. Problem is, they don't know what to do next.

wont release some of their most popular games for a very long time.

the opposite actually, they'll have a Zelda launch title, and all of their big guns will have a release within 6 months.

i feel Nintendo is about to be king of the castle once more if the hardware is impressive.

the wii has a fricking crazy good library...if you consider the wii u basically an update, then the wii has the ultimate library

I do agree that the future of the company hinges on the success or failure of this console, and there's really no middle ground for them on it...what I do love about Nintendo is that with so much on the line, they still aren't playing by the rules. of course they wouldn't just make a console...it has to be a portable console

go big or go home, and we'll see which one it is. I would put my money on Nintendo.

So it's opposite bc they are releasing soon and you choose to ignore the huge time gap? Come on dude.

When was the last metroid game? 2010?

the rumor is they'll have every heavy hitter released WITHIN six months, not you get Zelda and then wait 6 months.

I don't know if the nx will be a disaster or a huge success, but I know having all of your major first party titles released within 6 months of launch is coming out swinging. that's front loading it for sure.

in the end we'll see.

Yes it is definitely huge and I'm especially excited for a new metroid.

The only concern is that it probably won't take full advantage of the new hardware

The only thing I'm pointing out is that if rumors are true (and what else can we rely on? No one knows anything about it really)

Then you won't be waiting "a very long time" for those titles. I just started playing prime and looked up to see what retro has released recently, and they haven't released a game in a few years. They're working on something

as for the hype, i'm cautious, but everything I read gives me a boner

augmented reality

detachable handheld

$200 price point

if it has a sleek design, boss hardware and they bring out the big guns for launch...it will be a big seller. If it is the bees knees then you may see the return of Nintendo as the premiere console company.

I agree with baddestandvari, they're either going to hit it so far out of the park you'll need a telescope or they'll fall flat on their face.

Nintendo is already becoming a third party game developer. That happens when they announced their DeNa game partnership and announced major Nintendo IPs as mobile games.

Impossible. Nintendo doesn't have the dev team size or competency (this is self admitted by Nintendo with all of their horrible Wii U/HD gaming delays) to release 9-10 AAA games in 6 months.

9 - 10???

Mario, Zelda, metroid, smash

And Zelda is almost done if not done. I think the release is being delayed to be a launch title

Bottom line is at $200 (if that's true) and delivering something as big as the things being rumored, they may potentially have crazy demand for it. We'll see. No one knows anything, it's all speculation and rumors
