Almost exactly one year after Ubisoft delayed The Division to 2015, Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment announced that The Division has been delayed to Q1 2016.

The positive news this time around is that Q1 2016 release date, which means we’ll get it between January – March 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Massive Entertainment talked about the delay:

Agents,

We have decided to release the game on Xbox One, PS4 and PC during the first quarter of calendar year 2016.

All of us at Massive, Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment and Ubisoft Annecy want to ensure the game not only meets our high expectations but also those of our fans and players alike. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and can’t wait to show you more next month at E3!

Thanks for your support,

The Dev Team

That's what they want you to think, every time. That the longer you wait, the better it will be. I believe the vast majority of these game delays are not really delays at all, that the release date/deadline was set long ago, and all of these so-called delays are scheduled PR moves. Any time you read about the video game industry and its employees, there's always mention of the long hours and impossible deadlines. And most importantly, the set-in-stone budgets based on sales projections. Adding more time to development would mean increasing the budget, which is possible but generally requires the existence of earth-shattering consequences for not doing so. It's happening too often for it to be a coincidence, though.

I don't get why they keep saying time frames. Obviously you haven't been sure for years, so just say "sometime in the future" or some obscure time frame.

Really unless what they're working on is core to the game, why not just put it out and then patch it?

I think there are plenty of people doing this already. I'd rather they finished it first, I can wait.

Like I said, if most of the game is done and they're still working on peripheral aspects of it, I don't see the harm. It's not like they're rushing it, I mean they revealed it in 2013.

You don't see the harm in shipping an unfinished game?

As long as they get it right when it releases, this is ok.

Define peripheral. Do you really think it would be ok to ship an unfinished game, even if you don't care about the details?

Man ya'll are really nitpicking now

If they really need the time, sure, make sure the game is in working order. But to push it out another year just to put some more polish on it would be excessive. Especially since this game debuted in 2013 at E3.

I doubt this is for polish. Polish is a marketing word that means fix broken arse game .
